Gym - after lunch

CD-player and mats were in place, as Buffy waited for the other cheerleaders to arrive. She was hoping Alec would be better today, the poor sick kitty. She kept glancing towards the bleachers like she was waiting for someone.

Once some/all the cheerleaders had arrived, she got up.

"Next Saturday is the first Gremlins game!" Buffy announced, beaming. "So we have to start practicing really, really hard!"

wait for ocd omg!

It really hurt when people did that. River just wanted to help. She frowned. "But bright light hurts the eyes. Forever and ever. Like cutting into your brain. Hurts too."

"Stop it." Alec had paled a little as she spoke, and he looked about ready to bolt if he had to, though the fact that it wasn't exactly an empty room stopped him from doing so yet.

She obviously scared him. That wasn't good. River blinked, trying to think of a way to calm him down. She handed him an orange. "Take this."

That was... kind of absurd. Alec stared at the orange a moment, then at River, confused. "Why?"

"I upset you. I didn't mean to. Now I try to be friends by giving you an orange." She still held the fruit in her extended hand.

"You were reading my mind," he said, not taking the orange. "No shit you upset me."

"Your mind was very loud," River said defensively, still offering the orange. "And people made experiments on me too, so it's not my fault."

With confirmation, Alec tensed, panic edging in. Her claim could be true, but he wasn't in a mood to be forgiving. "My mind was loud? What, that makes it okay to bring up things like that?"

"Yes." River fixed him with her eyes.

Alec glared at her, and then turned to walk away - and out of the gym. This wasn't a conversation he wanted to ever have, much less out in public with someone who could pull the details out to linger over.
