Third Floor Common Room, Sunday brunch-ish

Omelette time. After a week with Cafe Fina closed, Walter was willing to wait on other people again. At least after a fashion. In this case it meant that he had the appropriate setup for omelettes of almost any variety, a happy hellpuppy underfoot, and a good mood.

He flopped down on the couch, turned on the TV, and found something on the History Channel that wasn't about WWII or war at all for a change. Hurrah for Leonardo da Vinci for distracting the History Channel execs from war for a little while.

[ooc: Open for all, of course.]

Omelettes!

Tempe was lulled out of her room by the scent of omelettes cooking. She followed the smell to the common room.

Entering the common room, she spotted the boy who had popped in on her and Blair's anthropological discussion to take a picture.

"Walter!"

"Good morning," Tempe smiled. "Absolutely famished, and your omelettes smell delicious."

She bent down to pet the many-eyed, slightly scary-looking hellpuppy. She scratched him behind the ears, talking in calming, nonsense syllables, hoping it wouldn't bite her.

Tempe jumped slightly as the little hellpuppy jumped up at her, its tongue hanging out. The tongue caught her across the nose. "Ack!" Tempe cried as the tongue hit her, leaving little bits of hellpuppy drool across the centre of her face. She looked down at Pup. "Thanks. I appreciated that. Really." And to show there were no hard feelings, she petted him again.

"Mushrooms, spinach and cheese, please, if you have them," Tempe replied. "Otherwise, surprise me."

Tempe took the omelette, thanked Walter, and took a forkful of the omelette and put in her mouth. Heavenly. Positively heavenly.

"Mmm. This is awesome," Tempe said as she ate her omelette. "You're an excellent cook."

Tempe took another bite, and chewed thoughtfully on a mushroom before answering. "I'm 16, I'm a junior, or at least I will be come the fall. I grew up in Illinois, in a small town just outside of Chicago."

"I like to write. A lot. I'm working on a novel right now. I'm also interested in anthropology, and as such, I love observing people."

"Hello person I haven't met." Pippi waved. "Good morning!"

"Good morning!" Tempe replied, smiling and waving back. "I'm Tempe."

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm Pippi." she said, "Nice to meet you!"

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nice to meet you as well, Pippi," Tempe replied. "Are you a new student as well? Or are you an oldie?"

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I've been here since January." Pippi said. "So I guess I'm something in between."

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"I see," Tempe said. "So, that would make you a...middlebie? An old newbie?"

She shook her head. Why was she even trying to figure this out? "Well, either way, it doesn't matter. I'll just call you Pippi."

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's usually for the best." she grinned. "How are you liking camp?"

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Tempe grinned back. "It's been an experience like no other. Some odd things have happened, but at least I've met a lot of really nice people."

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh that's good." Pippi smiled. "This is the place for odd experiences like no other I think... But they don't tend to last for more then a week... Funny that."

Statk figured that as long as he was here and feeling strangely social again he ought to try and say hello to people he didn't know. So, spotting a mostly unfamiliar face, he walked over.

"I don't think I've met you yet. But I've seen you somewhere. In Astronomy, I think. Hello. I'm Stark."

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Tempe grinned. "I've seen you as well, Stark. And yes, it was probably in Astronomy. I'm Tempe. Very nice to meet you."

"And you," Stark replied. "Are you liking your summer here, so far?"

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's been...an experience," Tempe answered. "I mean, where else can you be attacked by glitter, get trampled by a multitude of frogs, have it rain both chocolate and figgy pudding, and befriend a herd of weetiny kittens, all within a couple of weeks of each other?"

"Actually, it has been quite nice. I've met a lot of very friendly, very interesting people."

"It's very strange here sometimes," Stark agreed. "Most of the time. All of the time, maybe. I don't think there is any place quite like here. It's mostly a good kind of strange though."

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-11 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Tempe nodded. "Yeah, for the most part, it's a good strange. And probably good for character-building. Chocolate pudding rain building up your immunity to strange weather patterns and all that."

"Character building?" Stark repeated, puzzling over the phrase for a moment. "Yes. I suppose. I don't think I need much more character. But if I did, this would be a good place to get it."
