After a handwavey walk into town for supplies, Dawn set out a bunch of sandwich fixings, pretzels, chips of various descriptions, cookies, fruit, lemonade, iced tea, and soda.

A small handwritten sign told people to help themselves, so she didn't have to keep repeating herself.

As for Dawn, she sat down with a book to enjoy her hummus with cheese, sprouts, carrots and sweet pickles. Occasionally she sipped from her lemonade.

"Hey, Dawn!" Bridge waves cheerfully, fixes himself a sandwich, and flops down on a couch.

"Bridge!" Dawn waved back.

"What's new and exciting in Dawnville?" Bridge asks.

"Sandwiches, and it's very hot out." She told him, like this was news.

"Huh, you know, the news is very similar in Bridgeville. Well, that and I'm leaving for Sunnydale with Xander this afternoon."

"You're going to Sunnydale?" Dawn blinked. "Why? Is there an apocalypse coming? Do you need help? Should I get Buffy? Do you have enough stakes? Did you remember the holy water?"

Overreact much, Dawnie?

"Uh, no to all of that?" Bridge says. "Xander's taking SATs. I'm going along for moral support. And because I've never been to 1999 before."

"Oh." That took a lot of wind out of her sails, but not all of it. "You should still take extra stakes, though. And you're going back to 1999?"

"Okay," Bridge nods. "And yeah." He glances down at his uniform. "Guess I should probably change into civvies, huh?"

"Yeah, probably. Or come up with a good cover story." She snorted, "or any cover story--this is Sunnydale, after all."

"Hey Bridge!" Jamie tried to say with his mouth full and waving a potato chip in Bridge's general direction.

"Jamie!" Bridge chirps back, after swallowing a bite of sandwich. "What's up, dude?"

"Oh the usual. Snacks, hijinx and workshops," Jamie said following that with a cough that might have sounded like "And imitating you and Xander in sock form," but it was a cough.

Really.

"What about you?"

"That cough sounded like 'And imitating you and Xander in sock form'," Bridge says, eyeing Jamie oddly.

"Really?" Jamie asked with an innocent look on his face. "That's weird."

He then pats his chest.

"Summer cold. So what have you been up to again?"

"If you say so," Bridge says. "And, you know... summer vacation stuff."

Looking slightly like he may have dodged a bullet, Jamie nods happily. "Yep. Summer vacation stuff is very cool."
