Third Floor Common Room, Lunchtime

After a handwavey walk into town for supplies, Dawn set out a bunch of sandwich fixings, pretzels, chips of various descriptions, cookies, fruit, lemonade, iced tea, and soda.

A small handwritten sign told people to help themselves, so she didn't have to keep repeating herself.

As for Dawn, she sat down with a book to enjoy her hummus with cheese, sprouts, carrots and sweet pickles. Occasionally she sipped from her lemonade.

[ooc: Open to all, mod any sandwich fixings or side items you'd like.]

Passing by the common room and hearing noise, Cameron stuck his head inside. Not only was there food, but Tyler was there too and didn't manage to catch up with him yesterday so now seemed to be the time.

Grabbing a sandwich, Cameron plopped down in a chair near Tyler. "Yo."

"Hey, Cam," Tyler said. "Radio said you were talking about me. Good things?"

That made it a lot easier to get on the topic. "Sort of," Cameron replied. "Veronica told me a bit more about what the radio had reported."

Tyler thought about it; he had a guess what it might have been. "Oh?"

"She explained about what happened before you came to Fandom," Cameron said, not sure how detailed he should get in a common room. "She also asked me to keep an eye on you. I'd rather be upfront and let you know that I know about things than going behind your back."

Tyler leaned his chin on his hand. "I respect that, man," he said slowly. "I can't say I'm thrilled to have a babysitter, but I'd rather have one I at least knew about."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't want to babysit you," Cameron said. "I want to help, but you got to want to be helped too. If you don't, then it will probably end up being babysitting, yeah."

Tyler thought about it seriously. "I don't want to hurt anyone," he said finally. "I don't want people to be afraid of me. So yeah, I want help."

"But I like fighting and I like explosions, and if I can't do any of that, I think I'll just get sicker."

"In a way I get that," Cameron admitted. "The mummies? That was fun. I love sparring and pushing myself further, but you can't let things like that get out of hand. People won't be scared of you for enjoying fighting and blowing things up. It's when you do it to hurt people and not to protect them that they start asking questions."

Tyler looked at Cam skeptically for a moment, then: "Yeah. I believe that."

He played with a bit of pretzel. "I have plans to go to the junkyard with River Tam and blow something up for her this afternoon. Goggles, real fireworks, safe distance, all of that. Not asking permission, just figured one of you should know."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay," Cameron frowned and had to ask, "Blow up how?"

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Firecrackers?" Tyler asked hopefully.

Cameron grinned. "Just don't stuff them down the troopers' helmets."

"If I see them, I'll run," Tyler promised foreshadowingly. "Later, Cam."

"Later, man." Cameron nodded and finally took a bite out of his sandwich.
