After a handwavey walk into town for supplies, Dawn set out a bunch of sandwich fixings, pretzels, chips of various descriptions, cookies, fruit, lemonade, iced tea, and soda.

A small handwritten sign told people to help themselves, so she didn't have to keep repeating herself.

As for Dawn, she sat down with a book to enjoy her hummus with cheese, sprouts, carrots and sweet pickles. Occasionally she sipped from her lemonade.

"Wow, you really take this stuff seriously," Dawn said, impressed.

"I want it to be a good time for everyone," she shrugged. "Hopefully I'll be able to pull it off. Of course I'll probably do all this planning and it'll rain all day."

"You need an anti-rain dance," Dawn decided, "or a ritual. Ooh, with jelly beans!"

Yeah, she was making this up.

"You know what?" Isabel grinned. "I'm totally willing to try anything including groveling to the admins for permission to mode the weather that day if necessary." She pulled a small notepad out of her back pocket and got ready to take notes. "Okay, jellybeans. What else?"

"Um...dancing. There has to be dancing. And someone playing a piccolo." Dawn giggled, ruining her attempt at a Giles impression, not that Isabel knew Giles, she didn't think.

Isabel took notes, despite the niggling suspicion that Dawn was pulling her leg. It was Fandom after all. "Any particular style of dancing? Salsa? Step dancing? The Tango? And I don't suppose you play the piccolo do you?"

"No, I dance, though," Dawn offered, shaking her head, "and um, it's more kind of free range dancing--it's the emotion the weather gods want, not the actual steps."

"Free range dancing? You realize now I'm picturing free range chickens dancing about," she laughed. "Talk about weird word associations."

"No chicken wire required," Dawn grinned back.

"Good to know. Now when should this oh so serious ritual be performed?" she asked. "Any particular timing?"

Dawn tried to figure out when she'd be least likely to be seen by, oh, her boyfriend out for a stroll. "Um, after dark? Because of the moon."

Isabel nodded, "Okay, that works. The night before? So the third?"

Dawn nodded. "That'd work. We hate to have to do it over again."

"So, know where we're going to find a piccolo player?"

"I haven't clue," Isabel admitted. "I suppose we can hire someone if we have to."

"Is there money for that in the budget?" Dawn asked worriedly.

"I'm the master at squeezing money out of budgets," she replied. "But first I'll see if I can't have someone on radio ask on air if somoene would volunteer."
