After a handwavey walk into town for supplies, Dawn set out a bunch of sandwich fixings, pretzels, chips of various descriptions, cookies, fruit, lemonade, iced tea, and soda.

A small handwritten sign told people to help themselves, so she didn't have to keep repeating herself.

As for Dawn, she sat down with a book to enjoy her hummus with cheese, sprouts, carrots and sweet pickles. Occasionally she sipped from her lemonade.

She smiled at him. "I just don't want him to fight with you because he doesn't like me. He's your dad, after all. I'm just being stupid and nervous. Ignore me."

"Ignoring you would be beyond my abilities," Dean told her earnestly. "Relax. He's going to love you. Promise."

"If you say so," she said, not completely convinced, but not wanting to argue about it. "I'm glad you got to talk to him, though."

Dean smiled. "Yeah, me too." He cocked his head as he regarded her. "What about you? You've had any calls from home?"

She shook her head, and answered before she really thought about it. "No, just a package. They're busy, though, so I'm not surprised."

"Yeah, seems everyone's busy. But it's good that you got mail at least. What did they send you?"

"Um..." Yeah, she was gonna kill Faith, "condoms."

Dean blinked. "I'm sorry, did you just say..."

She nodded and was glad Dean hadn't seen the size of the box. "Please don't make me repeat it?"

"Who would send you a package full of...?"

"Faith."

"The one with the leather pants?" Dean grinned. "I think I want to meet this Faith."

"You'll probably get along...scarily well," Dawn admitted reluctantly, already preparing to lose Dean to her, if they ever did meet.

"Well she has the good taste to be friends with you so that's in her favour," Dean said.

"I kind of annoyed her into it," Dawn smirked. "I followed her around until she took me under her wing. And then she went crazy and killed people, so not so much with the friends for a while, but she's mostly better now."

Okay, that was definitely a mark in the negative column about this Faith. "Does that happen a lot where you're from?" he asked curiously. "People going crazy and killing people?"

"Er," she fidgeted, "more than you'd think?"

Dean shook his head and chuckled. "And I thought I had a weird life."

"I win!" Dawn grinned, not realizing maybe this wasn't a contest she wanted to win. "Ha, I'm weirder."

Dean slid an arm around her waist. "Hey, it would take someone weird to put up with me as a boyfriend so all I can say is yay, weirdness."

"You're such a goof," Dawn said, leaning against him. "But in a good way."
