Third Floor Common Room - Friday Afternoon

Dean led the way into the Common Room with the bags of supplies he and Alec had handwavily bought in town.

"So," Dean said, putting the bags down on the kitchen counter. "Ready for your next lesson in junk food appreciation?"

[ooc: open for all your common room needs]

Pip nodded, recognition dawning. "Riiiiight. You're the guy with the number for a name, right?"

"Nope, got a name now," he said, grinning. "It's Alec."

"Well, welcome to the world of the named," Pip said, grinning. "How did you come up with that one?"

Alec shook his head. "Not me - Principal Washburn suggested it." His grin widened a bit. "And how could I resist that?"

Pip laughed. "Well, her word is law. She just get sick of calling you the number all the time?"

"Nah, it was something about the office-drones freaking out about the lack of a name on the paperwork," Alec snickered.

Pip rolled his eye. "Those guys are definitely not the most laid back people in the world." He stretched his neck a little. "So how are you adapting to your name after only having a number your entire life?"

[identity profile] x5-alec.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"I like it," Alec said, quite honestly. "Nice to feel like a person, not a tool."

[identity profile] cyclopeanmerc.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Pip nodded. "What's the story behind that?" Pip asked. "Having a number instead of a name. If you don't mind me asking."

He lifted a shoulder in a vague shrug. "Not really. So the American government decided to mix DNA cocktails that'd turn out the best genetically-empowered infantry soldiers possible." Alec grinned. "And here I am."

"Jesus. Americans. Will they ever learn? So, what were you, experiment number whatever? Were there others like you?"

[identity profile] x5-alec.livejournal.com 2006-06-24 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Alec snorted. "The number's just the last three digits of my serial designation. And there were a lot of us, I guess." Thinking a moment, he shook his head. "Not enough for the army I think they were hoping for though."

[ooc: heading home, will ping back upon my return :)]

Pip nodded. "Something went wrong to stop them?"

[identity profile] x5-alec.livejournal.com 2006-06-24 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Nah, it's just expensive and not an easy process," he said. "Especially since we got an EMP dropped on the west coast about three years from now that wiped out all the computer systems on the west coast - kind of set things back a bit."

[ooc: sorry, ended up having to do errands. sp if you'd like, or they can talk again later!]

"Well, that will do it. So, are you here on an official government education trip, or did you break free of your American masters?"

[identity profile] x5-alec.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Very officially AWOL," Alec said, smirking.
