Peter had his St. George's cross flag close by as he waited impatiently for the match to begin.  England vs. Ecuador with continued participation in the World Cup at stake.

He had run down to J, GOB ostensibly to get some pastries to share for breakfast but really because he couldn't sit still any longer so there was a selection of muffins and doughnuts on one of the tables.

Now for the football to start...

"Up England!" Pippi chimed as she flounced in.

"Up England, indeed!" Peter replied with a grin. "Hopefully we'll be as happy tonight as Nadia was yesterday!"

"Oh, I'm guessing she may not be so happy this morning." she grinned.

"But yes."

Peter laughed. "True, but it's all in support of her native land, right?"

"One ccertainly can't blame her."

"Did you watch the Sweden-Germany match yesterday?" Peter asked. "That one was tough. Bloody Germans."

"Ugh! Don't remind me!" she said rolling her eyes.

"Hopefully Argentina will steamroll them on Friday," Peter said with a scowl. He turned back to the match on the television. "Shot over the bar THEN a yellow card? Come guys..."

"We was robbed I tell you robbed!" Pippi wailed melodramatically while pumping her fist at the sky.

Peter laughed and threw a piece of his muffin at her. "See, now it's time to watch the match on TV, Pippi. And England really needs to score soon!"

Pippi caught the bit of muffin in her mouth.

"Go England!" she said chewing. "... Um... What do you guys chant again?"

"They're singing 'God Save the Queen' right now!" Peter said, pointing towards the TV. "Speaking of which...how'd that go for you?"

"Oh!" she said, "I can show you! ...Walter liked it, but he said the tune was delivered in an unusual way... But it was the only version of the tune I could fine."

She opened up her laptop and hit play on the footage Walter took of her at Caritas (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/924223.html?thread=36383039#t36383039).

Peter watched the footage with amazement and just a bit of shock. "That's...pretty impressive. What tune IS that?"

"God Save the Queen..." she said. "By a band called 'The Sex Pistols'."

"The...Sex...Pistols...right," Peter said, still in a bit of shock. "I was afraid for a moment I forgot how the song goes." He grinned. "You don't do a thing by halves, do you?"

Conner came barging in just in time for the match to begin. He'd dressed for the occasion, in a shirt with a Union Jack pattern just like the one in the icon.

"Let's go England!" he whooped as he vaulted himself over the back of a couch and landed with a high bounce on the seat. "I am so ready for more celebrating."

"Can't argue with that," Peter replied. "But next time? I'll teach you the right tune if you like."

"Up England!" Peter replied with a grin. "I'm right there with you!"

"Maybe Rule Britannia then," Peter grinned back.

"If you weren't I'd be worried," Conner told him. "I mean, hey, Nadia got to run around all crazy last night. It should be your turn."

Walter arrived, ready to watch England trounce Ecuador. Football might not be his obsession as it was for some, but there was national pride to consider.
