The Gym, Thursday night

Peter walked down to the gym and was surprised to see it empty. "There's a first time for everything. Okay, what to do, what to do..."

He needed something more active than stretching and the untaken punching bag was looking very appealing. He glanced down at his cast and made a decision. "Okay, one handed kickboxing against the nefarious Count Punching Bag it is." Peter started hitting the bag quietly...

... for about two minutes. Then he launched into a series of taunts about the punching bag's mother. He really couldn't shut up while fighting.

"Not a memory. Just a ghost. And I can't see it, but I have proof it's there." He pulled out the EMF reader he'd been working on making out of an old walkman; it was still pretty basic, but it did work. "With this."

Tyler blinked. "That looks like an antique Walkman," he said. "Like something my dad would have."

"It was a walkman. Now it's an EMF meter." Dean grinned proudly. "Made it myself. Ghosts and a lot of other paranormal stuff give off electromagnetic energy. This can measure it."

Bob looked intrigued. "All that in that little box?" he asked. "Tell him I want to see."

Tyler stepped over to Dean. "Huh. If you want to try it, he's right next to the treadmill I was just in. He's a pretty big guy."

"Okay." Dean turned it on, and started doing a slow circle, beginning pointing away from where Tyler said his ghost was.

When the EMF meter was moved into the ghost's space, it made a noise a bit like a cross between geiger counter going off and the static between radio stations and the row of red lights on the top all lit up.

"That," Dean said, "is saying we have ghost."

Bob's eyes widened. "Me just being here makes that go crazy?" he asked excitedly. "What happens if I dance?"

Tyler facepalmed. "He says he's glad you sensed him."

"He's friendly," Tyler said earnestly. "He likes to share."

He turned his back on the ghost, bklocking out whatever he might say. "Do you know how to get rid of him?"

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Well generally, the first choice is always to find the body, and burn and salt the bones. I'm kinda guessing that's not going to be feasible in your case?"

"They moved me out of your backyard," Bob reminded him. "Buried me next to my folks in Newcastle."

Tyler shook his head. "It's not impossible, but I'd have to get to Delaware and rob a grave. Anything closer to home?"

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"If it comes to that, Sammy and I will help. It won't be the first grave we've had to help dig up." Dean gave it some thought. "There's protections you can set up that should keep the ghost away at least temporarily."

"The email from Veronica said we might need to confront the ghost and deal with whatever they stirred up for us," Tyler said thoughtfully. "Do you have anything that will help me do that and not get sucked into hell?"

"Wasn't in hell," Bob volunteered.

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Ghosts can't suck you into hell," Dean told him. "Some of them can and will kill you and sometimes they'll hide the bodies, but things that suck you into hell are a whole different level of nasty."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't think he would kill me," Tyler said. "So. I don't know, can I have a general protection thing? I think Alec would be happier if he at least stayed out of the room."

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah." Dean pulled out the Chinese whoozit that Pippi had given him. "Pippi said that this was supposed to keep ghosts out if you hang it on your doorknob. I don't know -- not something I've worked with before. You can also lay a salt circle down to keep ghosts out." He paused. "Or you could put a salt circle down around yourself for protection while you do that whole confront and deal thing."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
"She mentioned this to me," Tyler nodded, taking the Chinese whatsit. "Thanks. And I'll put a salt line at the door of our room, too, to be safe."

He let out a long breath. "What else do I need to know?"

[identity profile] saltandammo.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Blowing up or shooting them doesn't really work unless it's with rock salt. And even then it's hard on whatever's standing behind them."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't wanna get shot again," Bob said. "Done that. My head still hurts."

"Thanks, but I wasn't gonna do either," Tyler said firmly. "He died from a gunshot wound. I can't kill him again that way."
