Fifth floor common room, Friday morning (starting at 11 am)

Nadia was up early, in her swim suit top and a pair of cut offs, sitting on the floor in front of the tv with her tubs of blue, white, and yellow paint.

Even if Argentina didn't win, the game was likely to be intense. She was really looking forward to it.

Walter showed up, already shirtless, as promised. "You look ready."

"So do you! C'mere and let me start painting."

"Alright." He went to kneel on the floor in front of her to get his requisite paint job.

"Keep an eye on the game for me, okay? I don't want to miss anything." Nadia set to work carefully painting an Argentine flag on Walter's chest.

She might have done this much more slower than she did for Conner.

"Right." Although that was asking a lot, all things considered. He did keep his eye on the screen, watching two excellent teams facing off against each other.

~~Holy crow, double overtime. I shouldn't have slept late.~~

"We're going to win. We have to."

~~we have no tv currently. I'm watching streaming video. I can't believe I'm watching it streaming video.~~

"Yes, you do. And Argentina's a brilliant team. They'll win." He glanced away from the game to watch Nadia and twitched as she passed over a sensitive spot.

~~Me, too. Since the TV is coopted for Nickelodeon by a five year old. FH breaks my brain in a new way.~~

Nadia grinned, finished up the flag and gave him a quick kiss before turning back to the TV.

"I'm so glad I don't have any workshops today."

Walter leaned back against the couch to watch. "You would have skipped to watch the game."

~~Oh man, the penalty kicks are killing me.~~

"Well, yes, but I might have felt bad."

~~And my cat just nearly escaped through a window. Exciting day, man,~~

"If it makes you feel any better," Walter said, eyes on the screen. "I wouldn't have felt bad about skipping Dada if England's match had been today instead of tomorrow."

"Walter!" Conner yelled, waving over at him, already shirtless and decked out in a body-paint version of the Argentine flag. "Joining the crazed painted fan gang?"

"I made a deal with Nadia, I can't very well renege. And they're playing Germany. I would root against Germany even if it weren't my girlfriend's team."

"Excellent," Conner told him. "Like I was telling her, it's not a real game without shirtless guys wearing body paint. What's the deal with Germany?"

Oh, someone who didn't know.

"I'm from England. 1944 England."

1944? 1944 . . . Conner knocked on his forehead with one fist, trying to knock whatever he'd learned from history class out of the mental corner where it'd wedged itself. Then it clicked.

"Oh. Oh. Gotcha. Go Argentina," he said with extra emphasis.

Walter nodded and went back to watching the game.

"Yeah. So you're a fan of Argentina, or just of football?"

"Yes," Conner said. He figured that covered it.

"Good to know you have the sense not to root for Germany," Walter said, getting up to grab a drink from the fridge. "You'd have to choose a different common room."

"And that would be boring," Conner replied. "Therefore, no."

"Hello!" Pippi waved at Walter, already painted (http://flickr.com/photos/strongestgirl/155734990/in/set-72157594148187529/).

Walter waved back. "Hello! How's your day?"

"I learned to play volley ball in Beach activities class!" she said. "It's quiet a lot like shuttlecock. Except that you use your hands."

"Sounds simple enough," Walter said, attention mostly on the television. "I'll have to try it out on Tuesday."

Pippi nodded. "Ya." she said also watching the television.
