Fifth floor common room, Friday morning (starting at 11 am)

Nadia was up early, in her swim suit top and a pair of cut offs, sitting on the floor in front of the tv with her tubs of blue, white, and yellow paint.

Even if Argentina didn't win, the game was likely to be intense. She was really looking forward to it.

Conner had not been camped out in the fifth floor common room since about 6 in the morning. Really he hadn't; he just looked like he had.

He was curled up half asleep on one of the couches with a dorky, anticipatory grin on his face, surrounded by bottles of soda, bags of chip, and five different kinds of dip and salsa.

Sadly, he was not wearing Argentina colors. His wardrobe didn't exactly allow for it, but he was blue, gold, and white in spirit at least. For today, anyway.

"Need some paint?" Nadia asked. "We could do a sun on your face."

Buffy was looking for breakfast, not football. She did pause to glance at the tv though, because, shorts, omg!

"Morning Buffy! You want to cheer for my team?" Nadia was slowly covering her torso in paint, carefully painting the right stripes before putting on the sun.

"Hi," Conner said, waving at Buffy, because hey, cute. "Chips and soda?"

Half time! And beyond!

The score was still 0-0, but Germany had gotten in a few goal shots, and Nadia was getting nervous. She touched up her paint as she ignored the commercials and the half-time show.

"Come on, Ayala, Rodriguez, get your asses in gear."

[ooc: weee OCD going up as I watch. All threads will stay open for play, of course.]

1-1, with a magnificent corner kick to head in by Rodriguez and Ayala, but Germany's goal took Argentina's best goalie off the field with an injury. Nadia would be on the edge of her seat, if she weren't already on the floor only a few feet from the TV.

"Come on, you did it against Mexico, do it again. We don't want this going to penalty kicks."

Conner coughed a little bit at the penalty kick thing and tried to pass it off as choking on his soda.

Which would've worked if he'd actually been drinking any.

"Walter!" Conner yelled, waving over at him, already shirtless and decked out in a body-paint version of the Argentine flag. "Joining the crazed painted fan gang?"

Marie wandered down to the common room to see what all the commotion was about.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"Argentina vs. Germany quarter final. It's practically the final, though, it's that exciting!"

Conner, dressed for the occasion (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/684486.html?thread=44369606#t44369606) in a body-paint Argentine flag, grinned.

"Hey, Marie! Argentina versus Germany. Gonna come join us?"

Penalty Kicks! (you knew it had to happen)

Nadia was now lying on the floor, her face rather close to the TV.

"Come on, Franco, it's up to you!"

Game over.

Germany won.

Nadia sat gaping at the TV. "No! Piece of. . . ." She trailed off into a long list of Spanish, Russian, and yes, Italian curses.

Conner stared at the TV and dug his fingers into his hair.

"No. Freaking. Way."

There might have been tears.

Seras frowned at the screen.

"The reffing in the second had was a joke," she muttered, patting Nadia's shoulder.

She made a face.

"It's political. Germany's hosting, so they've got to make it to at least the semi finals."
