Fandom Camp, Main Campfire, Saturday Night

A group of students made their way to Fandom Camp to deal with the demon Lysistratas. It seemed quiet enough, but appearances could be deceiving.

Walter ground his teeth and looked back toward the ritual. "You aren't real. You're just here because the demon needs negative thoughts to rise."

"Your mother and I have watched, you, son. Through these years, and even here." William placed a chilly hand on Walter's shoulder. "Your mother cries in the afterlife, knowing what her son has become. We taught you to be strong and moral and look at you."

Walter shook off his father's hand and kept his attention on the ritual. "I didn't kill you. I don't deserve to be dead. I'm not immoral. Or weak."

"We know what you do. We see the lies you tell yourself and others." William came around to block Walter's view of the ritual. "You are not the child we wanted you to be. You shame us."

"I don't care who you claim to be, you need to *shut up*!" Bridge says, scowling at the ghost talking to Walter.

William glanced over at Bridge and dismissed him as unimportant. "He doesn't know you, does he? The things you've done and will do?" He bent until his face was inches from Walter's making it impossible for him to not see him.

"If you'd died with us, you would have kept many people from being hurt."

"If I'd died with you, some of my friends would be dead now," Walter snapped at his father. "And my father wouldn't say these things to me."

While Walter was chatting with his daddy, a tentacle rose up from behind Walter.

It whipped around his chest to pin his arms to his sides.

Seeing Walter getting attacked by a tentacle, Nadia ran over, one arm dangling limply, as she dove forward to stab at it with the taser.

Walter's father kept him distracted while the tentacle rose behind him. He almost kept him distracted enough to be completely taken unaware.

The first touch of the tentacle made Walter react quickly, bringing his hands up to fight, and resulting in his having one arm free while the other was firmly pinned.

The tentacle tightened around Walter, leaving a good long "tail" free.

The loose tail end of the tentacle reached up to try and grab hold of Walter's free forearm.

Nadia didn't waste any breath yelling, she just raised the taser, held down the button, and aimed as best as she could.

No tentacles on her boyfriend, dammit.

The tentacle twitched its hold on Walter, putting him directly in the path of the taser. Walter twitched helplessly in the tentacle's hold and went momentarily limp while he fought the crossfiring in his muscles for control again.

Walter is flailing about, making it difficult for the thing to grab his free arm while worrying about a new threat with a shocking.

It lifted Walter into the air and swung him down again, right at Nadia.

Nadia froze momentarily at the realization that she'd just managed to taser her boyfriend, and thus was unprepared for the tentacle attacking her with said boyfriend.

She went toppling backwards and skidded across the grass, dropping the taser in the process.

Impacting Nadia knocked the air out of Walter with a whoosh, making it that much harder to try to get control of his muscles back. At least the flying through the air part wasn't that foreign.

He flailed a little and finally managed to drop a handful of wire, cutting at the tentacle, but lacking enough control to actually sever it yet.

Dark gooey liquid with a sickly sweet smell sprung forth from the deep cuts Walter managed to make with his wires.

The tentacle didn't seem to want any more of that. It shook Walter slightly and made to drive him into the ground on the side where his free arm was.

Oh, I don't think so.

Nadia grabbed the taser and stuck in in her back pocket before pulling out her leatherman and, using in part her teeth, unfolding the largest knife on the thing. Stupid dislocated shoulder.

She hurried over to where the tentacle sticking out of the ground to start hacking away at it.

Oh no. Walter was not at all interested in meeting the ground the way the tentacle intended. But Nadia was there, so he couldn't even flail with his wires the way he would have otherwise.

It seemed he was going to be meeting the ground very intimately, very soon.

Shit.

The tentacle stopped short of slamming Walter into the ground when Nadia started cutting away.

It changed direction and brought him swinging at her again.

Nadia was getting pretty tired of dodging things. So instead she turned, preparing to grab onto the tentacle instead.

Which involved holding the leatherman in her teeth. Frickin' shoulder. . . .

Oh hell no, he was not going to hit his girlfriend again. Even if she had tasered him.

Walter slapped his hand down on the surface of the tentacle, sending wire wrapping around its circumferance. He twisted his arm uncomfortably to catch them as they came around the other side and pulled as hard as he could, cutting through the meaty appendage like a wire cheese slicer through soft cheddar.

Chedder is a lot less goopy when you slice through it.

The end of the tentacle holding Walter falls to the ground and the rest of the thing waves around. Covering the immediate area with the strange smelling goop before retreating into the ground.

Nadia ignored the goop and instead moved to check on Walter. "Dios, I'm sorry. Are you okay?"

Walter pushed himself unsteadily up off the ground, trying not to sway. "I don't think anything's broken. Are you hurt?"
