Dawn was hanging upside off one of the couches, reading. The television was showing reruns of CFD in the background, but Dawn wasn't really paying attention--the TMI-cam grossed her out.

"Peanut butter and banana quesadillas were one of my many failures, but it sounded good in theory."

"You know, that doesn't sound terrible," Piper said. "I never turn down trying new things."

"I think I should have left the cheese out," she said a little sheepishly. "Or used something other than cheddar."

"Hmmm, yeah. I can see how cheese and peanut butter would be unmixy things," Piper said.

"Plus the peanut butter got all melty and oozy. The bananas were yummy, though."

"Well, if you ever figure out that recipe, let me know. I'd be happy to try it."

Dawn nodded enthusiastically. "I definitely will. How'd you get into cooking, anyway?"

"I dunno," Piper said. "Guess it's sort of something that always came naturally to me."

"Really? Is it related to the potion thing, or did you get into potion making because of the cooking?" She asked, interested in how different witches worked.

"I've been baking for a long time," Piper said. "I've only been a witch since September. Well, I was born a witch, but I didn't know about it until I came here."

"How'd you find out?" Dawn asked.

"I knew something wasn't quite normal when I froze an entire room full of people," Piper said.

Dawn blinked. "Yeah, I can see how that might be a hint. How'd you do that?"

"Just kinda panicked and threw my hands out and everything stopped moving," Piper explained. "It was kinda freaky at the time, but now, I guess it's sort of normal now."

"So you don't have to say a spell or anything to do that?" Dawn asked, a little concerned as she thought of Willow. "Are there limits to what you can do?"

"I have the power to freeze things and...blow stuff up," Piper said, adding that last part cautiously. "I was born with them. My sisters have different powers. We can all cast spells and make potions, though."

"So...what keeps you guys from going all uberwitchy and taking over the universe?" Dawn asked, mostly kidding.

"Personal gain side effects," Piper said simply.

Dawn looked confused, never having heard of those before. "What?"

"If we cast spells for personal gain, there are consquences."

"What kind of consequences?" Dawn asked, wondering why witches in her world didn't have that limitation.

"Remember the truth spell?" Piper said awkwardly.

"Er...sort of?" Dawn was a little worried by that, hoping she hadn't told anyone anything important. "More like I don't remember huge chunks of time and assume it was either the truth spell or an alien mindwipe?"

"Let's just say I sorta cast it for the wrong reasons and there were consequences," Piper said.
