Gym, morning before workshops

It had been way too long since Cameron had been in the gym so he showed up early for his session with Veronica so he hit the machines planning to make up for some of his slacking off.

"Morning," Veronica greeted as she walked into the gym, stifling a yawn.

"Morning, No-Longer-Miss-Mars," Cameron replied from where he was now doing crunches.

Veronica watched him for a minute enjoying the view before asking, "What's on the agenda for today, boss?"

"I was thinking it's been a while since we worked out so maybe we can go over everything we've done so far," he said as he finished up his drill and got to his feet. "Is that okay with you?"

"Sure, that sounds reasonable," Veronica replied with a grin.

"I am a very reasonable teacher, grasshoppper," Cameron told her and considered it for a moment. "Let me get the focus mitts and you can hit me," he said as he went to grab them.

"Oh, the day's looking better and better," Veronica teased as she followed him so she could grab gloves.

"You know, I'm thinking of starting up a business. Make people pay to beat me up for an hour so I can put some cheer in their day," Cameron said as he rummaged around and found the mitts. "Think I'll get rich?"

"Quite possibly," Veronica said, pulling on the gloves and stretching her arms a bit. "Though you would probably be too sore to enjoy it."

"Depends on how good people are," Cameron said and he was definitely challenging her. He pulled on the mitts and moved back on the mat, getting ready.

Veronica's look suggested that she was totally up for the challenge.

"So what's going on that's making you so masochistic?" she asked as she followed him to the mat and got in position.

"I've always been like this," Cameron said with a shrug. "Didn't anyone tell you?" And normally he'd be looking to spar with Aeryn by now, but that wasn't exactly going to happen.

"Hit me, baby," he dared, cheekily.

The 'baby' definitely got Veronica's to raise, but she ignored it and threw a punch with her right arm.

Cameron caught the blow with the mitt and to check if she was thinking about her defence, he tried tapping her left side with the other hand.

She totally wasn't thinking about her defense and took the hit to her left side.

"Dammit!" she exclaimed, lifting her elbow to protect her side belatedly.

"Things have a tendency to hit back," Cameron reminded her, hopping in place as he waited for her to continue.

"Yeah, yeah," Veronica said. She bounced on her toes a few times and then aimed a punch with her left hand, remembering to protect her right side.

Cameron blocked with his arm and hit out at her shoulder this time to test her defense again.

Veronica managed to dodge his hit, but almost lost her balance doing so because her stance was off.

Noticing, Cameron pulled back and lowered his hands.

"Hang on a sec," he said as he moved beside her. "Can you get into position again?" he asked, completely focussed on what they were doing.

"Okay," Veronica said, moving back into position. She unconsciously slid her right foot slightly forward and rested a little more of her weight on it.

"Don't forget to keep your weight balanced," he said he lightly tapped her right leg.

Veronica sighed and shifted her weight to be evenly distributed.

"I totally fail," she said.

"No, you don't," Cameron assured her as he moved back into position. "You haven't been practicing. You got to keep training if you want to keep up with it. I'll try not to disappear for a week again," he said with a quick smile.

"I guess I need to get good enough to practice on my own once I leave at the end of the summer," Veronica said, aiming another punch with her right hand, remembering to defend her left side and keeping her weight balanced.
