Second Floor Common Room [Thursday Morning]

Bridge was bored. So he'd dragged the telekinesis ball out of his room, since he hadn't practiced in a while, and sat down crosslegged on a couch in the common room to do so.

After a few minutes, he had the ball floating in a lazy circuit around the room.

"Well, he hasn't responded yet... I hope so."

Nadia shrugged. "I'm sure he did. So, what else has been going on?"

"Not much, really. I've been reading a lot."

[nadiathesaint]

"Yeah? About what?"

[multiplez]

"Pirates and ninjas and their romantic adventures in the Caribbean. Y'know. The usual."

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia laughed. "Sounds like fun. Who are the good guys, the pirates, or the ninjas?"

"They're both the good guys! They're married, in fact. It's the evil sheikhs you have to watch out for."

[nadiathesaint]

"Ohhhhh. I think maybe I should read this book." It would sure beat out reading about World War II.

"They're by Angelica Demesnes, and they're all in the library. And they get crazier as the series goes on."

"Very cool. I should check those out."

[multiplez]

"They're mindless fun," Z said. "So, perfect for summer reading. And Alec promised he'd return the ones he borrowed from me, so they should be available by now."

"Mindless fun sounds like exactly what I need right now."

"Is something wrong?"

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia's smile faded just a little bit and she shook her head. "No, I'm just being dumb, probably. My boyfriend is out of town and I'm worried."

"He's probably safer out of town than in it, though, isn't he? I mean, there aren't Jell-o dragons most places. Oh. He didn't go to California, did he?" Maybe Nadia's worried her boyfriend will get stomped by a giant moster robot.

Nadia shook her head. "No, not California. World War II Poland."

"Why the heck would he do that?"

[nadiathesaint]

"That's where he's from. Well, England, not Poland. But he's from 1944. His boss called him home to do a . . . mission."

"That sucks. At least he can be like, 'Hey, guess what? We win!' Or not, because that could break the timestream."

[nadiathesaint]

"Something like that. I don't really know. Thinking too much about the whole time travel thing just gives me a headache."

Z shrugged. "I'm already from the future, so it's just, like...more past."

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia shook her head. "Yeah, a lot of people around here are from different times."

"Yeah. I'm still wondering why the heck SPD sent me and Bridge here."

[nadiathesaint]

"Because being here is awesome?"

[multiplez]

"That might be it."
