Stickbug Campfire [Sunday Night]

Greg was there, and with him he had several packets and jars of various substances that looked like they might be unpleasant to eat or get in one's eye. They were labeled things like MgSO42− and Na2B4O7·10H2O.

He was also eating some marshmallows as he scorched them.

[Open, yay!]

"Even so." He felt unaccountably sad about Willow's remark about her mother but had no idea how to respond. He reached out to take her hand if she'd let him. "You broke the spell then?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Willow threaded her fingers through his. "Actually I was mostly tied to the stake. It was Giles and Buffy who saved the day. But Amy? To escape? Turned into a rat. And she's been stuck that way ever since. I've been trying to cure her but I'm just not good enough yet."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Peter opened his mouth to say that she would be then shut it again. He squeezed her hand. "I'm sure you'll find a way."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Willow squeezed back. "I'm trying. I feel so bad that she got stuck. And I can't tell anybody the whole truth about her because all that happened in senior year. But I couldn't abandon her in Sunnydale either! I'm the only witch she knows now. If I can't fix her she'll be a rat forever, and that's awful."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"It wasn't your fault," Peter said though he was now considering the fact that researching magic about transforming animals into people could very easily lead into trying it and getting stuck in animal form themselves. "What about Miss Calendar? Did she know Amy too? Couldn't she help you?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
"She did, but she died before all this happened," Willow said. "Darn. Why didn't I think of this before she left? I could email her though."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Because you didn't tell me about it so I could make a useful suggestion," Peter said with a smile, pushing the more serious thoughts away. "Did she leave for good?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"She said she'd be back," Willow said. She threaded her other hand around Peter's arm, giving him a smile. "Did we just do teamwork again?"

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm glad about that. She seems very nice," Peter said. He leaned into her shoulder slightly. "We did indeed. What do you think? Was it a successful attempt?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, one member of the team was a little slow, but fortunately the other one was clever enough to pick up her slack," Willow replied. She leaned back. "So I would say there's an A."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Then a gold star for both of us," Peter said with a nod. "And an extra one for you for picking the winner of the World Cup."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm a footy expert now," Willow said with a proud grin. "Up Italy!"

She paused.

"So we say up Italy or did I steal the cheer for England? If so, should I apologize? Considering that they lost I don't mean to kick them when they're down."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose we can," Peter said with a shrug. "I think England is strong enough to be able to share its cheer with the World Champions."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
"England is very generous," Willow said, resting her chin on Peter's shoulder. She grinned up at him. "One might even say kind, and big-hearted."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, of course," Peter agreed, grinning back at her. "They call her 'Mother England' after all."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"You know, Sir Peter," Willow said, the grin just not leaving her lips anytime soon, "I happened to notice something recently."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Did you notice that we're staying in the cabins again?" Peter asked, innocently. "Because that's probably something you ought to know."

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Willow stuck her tongue out at him.

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Dork," Willow said, with affection. She snuggled close again. "I noticed that we're sharing a class together."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Geek, if you please," Peter replied. "I have a labcoat to prove it." He wrapped his arms around her. "Are we indeed? Which one? What classes are you taking?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
"I beg your pardon, Sir Peter," Willow replied, all faux-formal and grinning. "You are, indeed, a geek."

She gave him a kiss on the cheek, then answered his question normally. "Computers, Constant Vigilance, and that one about how not to be burned as a witch."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you, my lady," Peter said with a pseudo-regal nod. "I appreciate the distinction."

"We shall learn how to be constantly vigilant together then? Hopefully that does not involve being jumped in hallways to teach awareness. But I don't remember one about how not to be burned as a witch. Which one's that?"

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"They've got it under Retail for some reason," Willow said. "No idea why. But you can see why lessons in avoiding the fire and stake in the future would appeal to me."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-07-10 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Most definitely," Peter replied. "Though you do have other help in avoiding it as well."
