Koala Campfire, Tuesday Morning

Blair sat on the ground in front of the campfire surrounded by english muffins and various breakfast supplies. Contrary to usual breakfast bars in Fandom, Blair is not sharing because making mcmuffins by campfire is not as easy as it looks.

"Ouch!" A muffin sailed up in the air before landing cheesy-side down on the ground. "Frakking stupidhead muffins."

Blair nodded and sighed as his muffin caught on fire. "I don't really agree with war, but I care about you and I want to be here for you if you want to talk about it." He tossed the flaming muffin into the fire and stared at it.

"Have you considered using a camp grill?" Walter suggested. "We have one over in Squirrel. You put it over the fire and use it like a barbecue grill."

He returned to the original subject. "In my time, the Nazis were working to create artificial vampires. I went to stop that. That meant fighting."

"I'm trying to do this the natural way." Blair stared at his latest creation and watched as the eggy bits sloshed over the muffin. "I think I'm getting soft staying here, my hippie powers are waning."

"Whoa." Blair blinked at Walter for a moment. "I respect you standing up against the Nazis. Like, a lot. Did you win?"

"We destroyed the facility and I made it out alive, so I suppose that counts as winning," Walter said. Every time he answered the question he felt just a little worse. "But I don't think we got them all."

"I'm sorry about that, man. It must have been really hard coming back to school knowing that. Are there people from your side left there to...you know...fight?"

"It's hard to explain, but there were just two of us there. If I didn't know things I learned here, I would have thought we had succeeded completely."

"I'm not sure I understand, man."

"During the 'dentists convention' here on the island, there were three men I saw, both in Cafe Fina, and in the park." Walter explained. "I saw them in my time as well. One of them is the one who did this to me." He indicated his face and neck.

"If I hadn't seen them here in 2006, I would have thought that Alucard and I destroyed the facility and everyone in it in 1944."

"Ouch." Blair tried not to stare at the injuries. "Are you sure they're your bad guys? Maybe it's like those weird Fandom things where they're from a different reality."

"I'm not sure. It might be a Fandom alternate reality matter, or it might not." He shook his head slightly. "Considering how dangerous what they want is, and that the big one is a werewolf that Alucard estimates to be at least a hundred years old in my time, we have to assume they're still out there somewhere."

"So are you going back to fight them more? Do you need help?" Blair bit his lip. "I'm not much for the fighting, but I could help research or provide distractions or something."

Walter smiled at Blair, honestly touched by the offer. "I'll go home if they're located again, or if there are other missions Hellsing needs me for. Right now my assignment is to recover and learn what I'm here for. Thank you very much, though. It means a lot."

"You're welcome, man. And I think recovering is a great idea. Maybe you should visit the spa, it's supposed to be really relaxing."

"The last time I did that was for prom." Walter opted not to mention the leg waxing.

"Tell me about your summer. Which workshops do you have for the second term? Have you found any good causes to fight for? Anything else interesting?"

"Workshops are good so far. I had retail yesterday and Willow and I rocked the clerk assignment hardcore." Blair bounced excitedly. "I've got How to win friends later today and then photography and the class with the nunhooker."

"As for causes...Willow and I are going to go see the administration tomorrow over this whole Christmas in July mess."

"Nunhooker? Is there another hooker teaching other than the crazy one?"

And trying to follow that segue, Walter was now completely confused. "Christmas in July? Why... you realize that makes no sense, right?"

"No, I think it's the same one. I just think she's really a nun in disguise." Blair nodded. "I know it makes no sense! Why would the administration force a holiday that not everyone celebrates on the entire student body! It's ridiculous!"

Walter coughed and made an ow face. "Why would you think she's a nun in disguise?"

Blair's reasoning was quite difficult to follow. "It just seems foolish to have Christmas in July. Isn't that what December is for?"

"Because...you know, I'm not sure. I was talking to Bel about it and he mentioned Angelus and it seemed resonable at the time." Blair shrugged. "I'm sorta hoping that she is a nun, cause it would make it easier for me to win the bet."

"See! We already have a time for a holiday that excludes other cultures and religions and now we have to have it twice a year? Where's the extra holidays for other cultures?"

"Bet?"

He shook his head at the rest of Blair's argument. "Well... Christmas is a Christian holiday..." And he was from a time when it hadn't been commercialized into something largely secular yet. "I don't understand celebrating it in July when its purpose is... It does seem nonsensical. Is there some reason they're doing it?"

"Bel bet me that I can't keep from blushing in every class. If he loses, he has to sing a song."

"I don't know what the purpose of having it in July is, but I'll ask when we speak to the dean."

"I had the class last term," Walter said. "What happens if you blush?" Since that did seem like the more likely outcome.

"I'd be curious to know. It's a religious holiday. It doesn't make much sense to me to arbitrarily move it around."

Blair shrugged. "I'm not sure yet, Bel hasn't come up with what he wants if he wins."

"You made a bet with a demon..." Walter said slowly. "And you don't know what he's going to want?" Oh dear.

"Nope, but I'm not that worried about it. It's just Bel. It's not like he's going to steal my soul or make me vote republican."
