Seahorse steps: Wednesday Late Afternoon (after workshops)

Jack was stretched out on the grass near the steps, basking in the afternoon heat -- shirtless, of course - he was back in Seawhorse, after all.

Oddly enough, he was also reading a book he'd handwavily picked up after his workshop. It wasn't as battered as Sam's copy, but the cover was the same.

There was a box of J,Gob's savoury muffins near his elbow, which he'd happily share, and a bottle of sunscreen, which he'd more than happily rub on share with anyone who wanted to join him in shirtlessness.

[As open as a thing that it is bounded neither by time nor space!]

"You're still kind of pink and fuzzy," Jack observed. "And you have an amazing name. Is it yours, or did you adopt it from somewhere?"

"The pinkness may change. Blink an' you'll miss it. It's my real name--well, my middle name. Skank Zero Hopeless-Savage, at your service."

Jack blinked several times. "Still pink," he laughed. "But I love it. Skank Zero Hopeless-Savage. Quite a handle - I'm guessing you have very interesting parents."

"They're punks," Zero said by way of explanation. "So, to me they're just Mum an' Da? But to everyone else they're, like, VH1 material."

"Almost nothing in that sentence made sense to me. Punks? VH1? I'm baffled here." he said helplessly, but he was grinning. "Take pity on a poor guy from the fifty-first century."

"VH1 is a TV channel that claims to be about music, but, not so much. They do a lot of stuff about how people have embarrassed themselves since they got famous. An' punk is, y'know, anti-establishment, down with conformity, DIY. But not emo. I really cannot stress that enough.

"I like the sound of that. Especially the not emo bit." He rolled his eyes. "You can definitely have too much emo."

"Emo is too much effort for me, really. I'd much rather let it roll off me, y'know? Like a duck, only less bird-like and evil."

"Right there with you, Zero. Life's too short to wallow in anything. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the ducks disturbing."
