Seawhores Campfire

Sam was outside in front of the cabin, laying on her back with a pair of binoculars, staring up at the constellations Dr. Arroway had showed them in class last session. Since it was a frillion over ninety degrees outside, she didn't feel a pressing need to light the campfire, but there was wood ready if someone else wanted to do so.

"Looking for anything in particular or just admiring the view?" Tim askeed, as he returned from town.

Sam lowered the binoculars. "Just catching up on my star-watching. So, I guess it's a combination."

Tim looked up. "Maybe I should have taken that class. you can't see the stars in new york really."

"I'm sure it'll be offered again," Sam suggested. "And no, you wouldn't be able to in the city. Too much ambient light."

Molly had felt the need for a walk before going to sleep, even in the continued heat. She stopped when she saw Sam and went over to join her.

"Hey, Sam. How've you been?"

"Pretty good, Molly," Sam smiled at her. "What about you? Make it through the weekend okay?"

Molly nodded. "I didn't like having to sit around and let other people go out and fight the bad guys, and not being able to talk was really annoying." She shrugged. "Other than that, it was just a normal weekend, if a quiet one."

"Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of sitting around either," she said, dryly. "Especially when people got attacked."

Jack left Cedric sleeping in his alcove and wandered outside, needing the night air to clear his thoughts.

It was with something halfway between relief and joy that he spotted Sam. He dropped to sit next to her, not saying anything, but his hip brushed against her as he reached for her hand.

Sam let him take her hand, then squeezed his. "Okay?" She asked quietly.

"Okay," he confirmed, smiling hugely, lifting her hand to kiss the back of it, then holding it between both of his. "Sam...thank you," he said, voice rich with sincerity and gratitude and something that he wouldn't have been able to define, but it was heartfelt, regardless.

"For what?" Sam asked, confused. She hadn't seen him since Saturday.

Jaye's bored and can talk again, and she's taking advantage of it. And she flops onto the grass in front of the cabin. "Hi."

Sam grinned at her. "Hi. I'm glad you didn't melt."

"How do you know I didn't? I could be some wacky Fandom mishap now," Jaye points out.

Sam poked her. "Seem pretty solid."

"How's it going?" Jaye greets him.

"Pretty good. Glad to have the whole silence, cutting out of hearts business done with."

Bored, Dean wandered outside to the campfire.

Sam waved her binoculars at him. "Evening."

"Hey," Dean greeted her, sitting down. "Kinda dark for bird watching isn't it?"

"Star-gazing," she said, handing them over. "Testing myself on the constellations."

Jaye waves. With her foot. Which might explain why she loses her sandal. "Hi," she says anyway.

Dean raised an eyebrow at her. "Playing Cinderlla?"
