The Gym, Early Saturday Morning (Post #1)

The gym was dark and quiet, except for two distinct and opposite corners of the gym, which were very well lit, almost as if it was intentional.

It seemed to be waiting, and a sense of anticipation filled the air. Or maybe it was the orchestra tuning up.

Danny was up and out early, feeling drawn to the gym back at the school. He lounged on the bleachers.

There was Frenchy, bright and early and snapping her gum. She was toying with the ends of her ponytail and idly thinking about trying to tint it like she'd learned to do.

Or, well, failed at learning to do. Whatever.

Sandy climbed up onto the bleachers next to her and glanced around gym, everywhere but at the opposite corner.

"Are you sure I look okay, Frenchy?" She fidgeted with her headband, then her shoelaces. She just couldn't sit still.

"Sure, Sandy! You look adorable," Frenchy insisted, grinning. "I wish you'd let me do somethin' with your hair, but it looks cute just the way it is!"

Sandy smiled back. "Thanks." She tugged on the ends of her hair. "I don't know what I was thinking, cutting it so short. It's so...masculine."

"Yeah," she agreed sadly. She brightened. "But there's still tons of stuff you can do. 'Sides, with your outfit, you blend in perfectly. Are you goin' to the dance later?"

"I don't know...." Sandy fidgeted, then confided, "I don't have a date."

Jan is sitting on the bleachers snapping on a piece of bubble gum and blowing the occasional bubble.

"You don't?" Frenchy stole a look over to where the boys were congregating. "What about the boy you mentioned?"

"Hay ya Frenchy." Jan said with a thick american accent (possibly New Jersey, depending). "Who's the new chick?"

"Oh, this is Sandy," she said, wide-eyed. "Be nice to her, 'kay? I can't do anythin' about Riz or Marty, but she's real shy."

"Nice ta meet'cha Sandy." She said a little louder and waving.

ChaCha wandered by, but didn't speak to anyone. Because she didn't go to this school, she went to St. Bernadette's. Where the hell was Leo, anyway?

Doody nodded to Danny when he entered the gym. He climbed up onto the bleachers and waited.

Rizzo strutted towards the bleachers, her curly hair that normally tumbled down around her shoulders swept up in an updo. She was thinking of cutting it all off. She looked around her dominion coolly through her dark shades, nodding to her minions friends as she approached.

"Good morning, Ladies."

"Lookin' good, Zuko!" Rizzo called out, peering over her sunglasses as she headed for her girls.

"You know you want it, Rizzo!" Danny called back, not getting up from his lounging position.

She ducked her head sadly. "He goes to a different school." Sandy sighed melodramatically. "I'll never see him again."

"Eat your heart out," Rizzo laughed, the glasses settling back into place as she continued on her way, letting a little bit more of a hip swivel into her walk than usual.
