2nd floor common room, afternoon

This week was just weird. So Cameron had gathered all the needed ingredients and headed back to the dorms to use the kitchen in the 2nd floor common room to make brownies. It couldn't be that much harder from chocolate cake, could it?

((Am unexpectedly getting dragged out of the house. AFK for a couple of hours, but I'll pick up as soon as I get home. Back.))

"Yeah, well, I was living with a cupcake addict for several months," Cally said. She wandered in and set down the box with a bit of a clunk. "Don't suppose I could get your help moving my stuff in the next couple days, could I?"

The reference to Anders made him stop for a moment, but he nodded. "Sure. Where are you moving to?"

"Fifth floor," Cally said. "Five-Oh-Eight, to be exact. Though I kinda promised Anders I'd let him help, so I'm not moving most of it, yet. You know, erm, assuming he comes back."

Cameron frowned. "What do you mean? He left?"

"He took off for a CPL exam," Cally said. "On Friday. Said they might offer him a spot on a team, already."

Cameron blinked. "For pyramid? Nice of him to let people know."

"I only found out cause I saw him sitting with his bags on Friday," Cally said. "Though not telling me really didn't come as much of a surprise, I guess." Cally shrugged. "He said he's most likely comin' back, though."

Cameron tilted his head. "Is it that bad between you two?" he asked gently.

Cally shook her head. "Not bad, just. . . awkward, I guess. We both did some weird stuff after the breakup, you know?"

"Yeah," he did know that. "I think it's mandatory. You just have to make a fool out of yourself so you can get it or something."

Cally nodded. "Yeah," she said. "But things are getting better, so, yeah. Can't complain, really."

"It just takes time," he gave her a small smile.

"Yeah, but you know me," Cally said with a chuckle. "Horribly impatient, sometimes." She nodded her head towards Cameron's baking handiwork. "Don't suppose I could try whatever it is, when you're done?"

"Brownies," he nodded. "Sure. I'm making way too many anyway."

"Just make sure not to put too much sugar in," Cally said. "I learned the hard way that there is, in fact, such a mistake to make."

Cameron smirked. "Got your teeth stuck together?"

"Was really close," Cally said with a nod. "And I'm super protective of 'em to begin with, so it was kinda scary."

"I'll try to hold off on the sugar. I'm pretty sure I got the dosage right," Cameron glanced at the recipe. At least he was good at following orders.

"I'm sure you're doin' great," Cally said. She stretched her arms out a bit. "Gah. Hey, you're somewhat good with the athletic stuff, right?"

"Depends what sort of athletic stuff, but I guess," he frowned a bit. "Why?"

"Tryin' to start to get a hang of some self-defense stuff," Cally said. "You know, fightin' skills and all that. Get a headstart on basic, and all."

"Okay, that I do know a bit. I've been helping Veronica out," Cameron replied. "I think Alanna did a self-defense club for a while too."

Cally nodded. "Yeah. Nadia was gonna help me out, but then she, well, you know. Got some basic pointers from Pip yesterday, though. Just figure asking everybody wouldn't hurt, you know? See what everybody has to say and stuff."

"Yeah, I heard about that Nadia," Cameron considered it. "It's definitely a good idea to ask around. There's some people who kow all different kind of styles around here. I'd offer to teach you, but I'm not sure I've got the time as I'm already helping Veronica out. I got some books from self-defense class that you can borrow, though."
