Willow made herself comfortable on the couch as she set about doing her reading.

She had books on beavers and was prepared to shake them down for as much information as was possible.

Yes, she was taking notes.

Yes, she had the highlighters handy.

She was still interruptable, however.

"You know, there's computer games that help teach reading," Willow said, half thinking to herself as she talked. "Maybe something like that might help you?"

"I, erm," Joxer gulped. "Don't know how to use a computer. We didn't exactly have them in my time."

"Hmm. Good point." Willow looked thoughtful. "There's books that teach reading."

"You know where I could find one?" Joxer asked. "I might need to get better before, you know, real classes start."

"All & Sundries might have some," Willow said. "Or they could order them for you if they don't."

Joxer gulped. "But then they'd know about my problem."

"Want me to get some for you?" Willow asked.

Joxer coughed. "No, no, must be brave," he said. "Can't be scared of anything, can I? I'm a mighty hero."

"You could be a mighty hero with help?" Willow suggested.

"Thanks, Willow," Joxer said. "Though I'm thinking hiding this. . . Well, Zero made me think twice about hiding stuff."

"What'd she do?" Willow asked.

"She hit me," Joxer said. "For lyin' about my brother."

Willow started to protest, then remembered the Parker story.

"Okay," she said, trying to be reasonable, "what happened?"

"She hit me in the shoulder because I made a pact with my brother Jett that we'd never talk about our brother Jace in public."

"O... kay," Willow said, not really following this. "But why would she care?"

"Apparently it was really mean to Jace," Joxer said. "Like we shouldn't have done it cause of the reasons we did, apparently."

Now this sounded like a Joxer story.

"Uh-huh," Willow said, listening patiently. "And what were those reasons?"

"Jace, erm," Joxer coughed. "Jace likes boys."

"There is nothing wrong with that," Willow told him.

"Jett said he was an embarassment to the family," Joxer said. "And I kind of had to go along with whatever he said."

"How come?" Willow asked.

"He's bigger than me?" Joxer said, though technically they were the exact same size.

"I thought you were Joxer the Mighty," Willow countered, not afraid to fight dirty.

"And he's Jett, practically king of assassins," Joxer said. "I only wish I was as mighty as him."

"He's Jett the big jerk," Willow said. "He deserves to get kicked in the shin."
