River had missed making popcorn. She decided it was time for a popcorn breakfast. She had also brought her present for Pippi and put it on the table.

Popcorns were soon flying around.

"Do I have to eat it out of your hair?" he asked.

River extended her hand and caught a popcorn and offered it to him. "I recommend catching your own," she said. "But if you really want the ones in my hair you're welcome to have them."

"Oh no," Pip said, taking the proffered popcorn and then catching some of his own. "Those are yours, fairly and justly won."

River grinned and picked a popcorn out of her hair and put it in her mouth.

"It's good to be back," she said.

Pip nodded. "I feel the same way every time I leave. Where d'ya go?"

"Home," River said. "Serenity. It's a spaceship. Firefly model."

Pip nodded. "So... you're from the future, then?"

River nodded. "Yes. Another solar system too."

"Wow," Pip said. "What's the future like? Any aliens?"

"The only alien I've met is here," River said. "And the future is... it depends on were you are."

Pip nodded. "I guess times haven't changed that much, then?"

"I guess not," River replied.

"I assume people in my humble profession still get work?"

"Crepe-making?" River looked confused.

Pip realized that he hadn't told River exactly what he did. "Mercenary," he replied lamely.

"Oh," River said. It was nice not to mind read people and let them talk for themselves. "Yes, of course. Still work for mercenaries."

Pip nodded. "THere probably always will be." He shrugged. "Do you like it here in the past?" He tilted his head to the side. "...Serenity... Firefly class.... do you know Kaylee?"

River nodded happily. "Kaylee is a friend from Serenity. From my version of Serenity. Unlike the Principal who's from another version."

Pip raised an eyebrow. "Another version?"

"You know, people here can come from different versions of the same place and be different versions of themselves. Appearantly there was another me here before."

"Wow," Pip said. "I wonder if there have been any other me's."

"I haven't met any. That I know of. You know Kaylee?"

"Yeah, I met her on the first day you guys all came."
