nadiathesaint: (guitar of angst)

The roof, Friday evening

Nadia had had about enough of the snow and was hanging out on the roof instead wearing a cotton poncho from home.

Guess what she was doing. No, seriously, guess.

Here's a hit. She had her guitar. . . .

There is fiction in the space between
The lines on your page of memories
Write it down but it doesn't mean
You're not just telling stories

There is fiction in the space between
You and reality
You will do and say anything
To make your everyday life
Seem less mundane
There is fiction in the space between
You and me

There's a science fiction in the space between
You and me
A fabrication of a grand scheme
Where I am the scary monster
I eat the city and as I leave the scene
In my spaceship I am laughing
In your remembrance of your bad dream
There's no one but you standing

Leave the pity and the blame
For the ones who do not speak
You write the words to get respect and compassion
And for posterity
You write the words and make believe
There is truth in the space between

There is fiction in the space between
You and everybody
Give us all what we need
Give us one more sad sordid story
But in the fiction of the space between
Sometimes a lie is the best thing
Sometimes a lie is the best thing

She continued to pluck the rhythm of the song on the guitar as she stared out over the town.

[ooc: open to others fleeing the snow. Hopefully I'll be fleeing work, soon. . . .]

"He'd have to be to hate you, and he should damn well appreciate what you sacrificed for him and the others."

Walter scowled. "It's a right asshole who blames others for his failures."

"It's a tough old world, isn't it? Look at us. I don't see either of us blaming anyone else when we get something wrong. Why should he get to use the excuse of 'having a hard time of it?'"

Walter ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "You blame yourself for things that you had nothing to do with." He looked over and grimaced. "Unless you've learned to stop doing that."

This sucked. He wasn't any help at all, when all he did was hassle her and make her think about this shit more.

"I'm not being good company at all. You need someone like Pippi."

Walter had killed more than one man and remained completely convinced that each one of them had deserved it.

But he'd also not had a relationship with any of them.

But he'd told Seras that he would help her with a gun that would use bullets Arthur had sent - bullets that would possibly kill Alucard someday.

Did that just confirm Nadia's opinion of the definition of "love?"

"From what you have told me, I would say that he did," he finally said, turning from his ruminations to address her comment.

Overkill? Given his own method of killing things?

"He underestimated you, then. Anyone who is lying that deeply and with that sort of goal shouldn't be surprised when the tool turns in his hand."

More thoughts of his own life, but he pushed them aside to focus on Nadia.

"So I know that you're going to get through this."

"Why would I do something stupid like that?"

"Soon. I'll get some more heavy practice in this weekend, then I'll be happy to jump off the roof with you." He slipped an arm around her waist and closed his eyes. It was almost like things hadn't changed.

"This isn't really a good height for parachutes anyway." He opened his eyes and grinned. "I still have to try bungee jumping."

"From a jet?" Walter looked interested. "I don't know much about jets, but reaching the ground first means lots of fast falling, which can be anything but fun in my book."

Walter frowned. "You're having me on, aren't you?"
