3rd Floor Common Room, Sunday Night

Angela had spent most of the weekend holed up in her room, deliberately working her way through a Francesca Lia Block anthology and emerging only to sip oversweetened coffee and gaze soulfully at fruit salad.

But all good things must come to an end. Which is why she was in the common room, watching an I Love the 90's marathon on VH-1 and hoping someone would tell her she doesn't look that goofy.

Company would be welcome.

"Hey, Chase," Anders said, wandering down from the fifth floor common room with bits of spackle all over his shirt.

"Hi Anders," Angela said, twisting her head to notice the spackle. "What's on your shirt?."

"What?" Anders looked down at his shirt and laughed. "Oh. I was just helping Pippi repair the holes in the wall in the fifth floor common room. No idea how they got there, but there were a bunch of them. What are you watching?"

"I Love the 90's," Angela said. "Basically it's, like, 10 hours of people making fun of my era." She gestured to the screen, on which Kate Moss was strutting down the catwalk in gauze and flannel. "It's mesmerizing. How bad do you think she looks?"

Willow was returning from a donut run when she spotted a flash of red on her way upstairs. "Hey, Angela. Mind company? I have unhealthy things."

"Wow," Anders said, staring at the screen. "That's kinda seriously painful."

"Hi, Willow!" Anders said. "How's my cooking study buddy?"

Anders might note that Willow seemed even happier than her usual perky. "Good. Very good. I feel strong approval for the general turns of life's events. You? Want a donut? I've got extras."

"Sure," Angela said, and gestured at the screen as she took a donut. "They're talking about the waif trend for models. Wonder if we could shove donuts through the screen?"

Angela nodded. "And yet she got paid incredible amounts of money to look like that, go figure."

"Personally I've been tempted to write letters to let them know it really is okay to eat fudge directly from the jar," Willow said. "The ice cream, though nice, is not a requirement."

Joxer clattered into the common room, fully armored. "Has anybody seen Kaylee?"

"And that is one more thing that makes life on the Thirteenth Colony a lot like life in the other Twelve," Anders said. "Which, let me tell you, is a very comforting thought after some things I found out today."

"You can even put the fudge in a little bowl and dumped whipped cream on it," Angela advised. "So. good."

"Oo," Willow said, appreciatively. "Now I"m in the mood. Shame we don't have any."

Angela glanced up, a little irritated by the clanking. "Who's Kaylee?"

"My girlfriend," Joxer said. He gestured. "About so tall, brown hair, cutest thing in the world?"

"Weird day?" Angela asked. "And it's kind of depressing to know there are models on other planets."

Angela heaved herself off the couch and went to poke in the fridge. "This might be our lucky day," she called. "The jar's sticky, but there is some fudge." She pouted. "No whipped cream, though."

"Maybe just one, I guess," Anders said. "I'm really supposed to be eating healthier, but don't tell. What's got you so chipper, huh?"

"We could dip donuts in it?" Willow suggested. "Like fondue, only thicker."

"There may have been certain conversations with certain people which turned out a lot better than certain people ever expected," Willow replied.

"Oh," Angela said. "Sorry. Still don't know her." She gestured to Willow's donuts, as she's very generous with other people's food. "We do have donuts."

Zack came into the common room and flopped himself down on a couch. "Evening all."

"Kissing a donut is not nearly as fun," Joxer said. "Though I guess you can't really eat your girlfriend, either." He grabbed a donut and took a big bite.

"Oh, don't think I introduced myself," he said, his mouth full of donut. "Joxer. Joxer the Mighty."
