3rd Floor Common Room, Sunday Night

Angela had spent most of the weekend holed up in her room, deliberately working her way through a Francesca Lia Block anthology and emerging only to sip oversweetened coffee and gaze soulfully at fruit salad.

But all good things must come to an end. Which is why she was in the common room, watching an I Love the 90's marathon on VH-1 and hoping someone would tell her she doesn't look that goofy.

Company would be welcome.

"Hey, Chase," Anders said, wandering down from the fifth floor common room with bits of spackle all over his shirt.

"What?" Anders looked down at his shirt and laughed. "Oh. I was just helping Pippi repair the holes in the wall in the fifth floor common room. No idea how they got there, but there were a bunch of them. What are you watching?"

"Wow," Anders said, staring at the screen. "That's kinda seriously painful."

"And that is one more thing that makes life on the Thirteenth Colony a lot like life in the other Twelve," Anders said. "Which, let me tell you, is a very comforting thought after some things I found out today."

Anders spread his arms and shrugged resignedly. "I guess that's what happens when your people and my people supposedly have the same ancestors, huh?" He flicked a bit of spackle off his arm and scrunched up his face. "And yeah, weird. You know how we have, like, people from different versions of the same town and stuff here? And from different points in the same timeline? I guess I never expected to find out me and Cally had that issue. Turns out I'm, like, nine years older than her, really."

"I have no idea, actually," Anders admitted. "We never really thought about that, since we never really talked about stuff from home all that much. So we just sort of assumed, you know?"

He made a face that might've been about the same. "I seriously never thought about any of it at all. I guess it shouldn't be surprising, considering this school, but wow. I'm dense."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. Still friends, though." Anders laughed a little bit. "When I go home eventually, I won't be able to hang out with her 'cause she won't know me yet."

"That's pretty much what Pippi said too," Anders replied, thinking it must be a redheaded logic thing maybe. "Of course, now I wonder if she'd remember me if the Cally from my time hasn't come to Fandom yet, and if she'd be the same one who ended up coming to Fandom later, and . . . this is why I don't think about these things."

Anders laughed. "Anyone ever tell you you're very wise, Chase?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I mean it too, y'know," he assured her, making a mental note to remind her of this every so often.

"Interesting," Anders told her, with a mild twinge of guilt over the incident with Demyx earlier. "And not bad, I guess. It's so not lasting, but it's fun."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
"I just got out of that, so I'm trying something a little different this time, I guess," Anders replied.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, but . . ." Anders scratched his ear and grinned wryly. "That'd make things too easy, and then what would we write sappy love songs about?"
