Third Floor Common Room - Tuesday Evening

Kawalsky had pizza. Pizza was good. He had way too much pizza for one person. He also knew that going to the second floor common room would mean the pizza would be gone in an instant. So he was making people work for it. If people wanted pizza, they'd have to come to the third floor common room.

Honey, I Laminated the Children was on TV. Kawalsky loved this movie.

"Sorry." Conner actually had the grace to look slightly embarrassed. "I should totally not be thinking about that anyway."

Conner mumbled something that sounded vaguely like "some people consider that cheating."

"Are you and Anders more than frak buddies?" Cally raised an eyebrow.

Okay, so maybe the tact comment was a pot-kettle-black situation.

Conner had no idea what the right answer would be in this situation, but he was going to be honest, at least.

"Maybe, possibly, yeah?"

"Oh," Cally said. "Just kinda thought it was a rebound thing. Erm, sorry."

"It was, at first," Conner said. "I'm not really sure what it is, now."

"Ah," Cally said. "Well, maybe you should talk to him about that?"

"Well . . ." Conner squirmed a bit. "We did, but I think things might've changed again."

"Oh," Cally said. "Then sounds like it's time for another talk."

"Talking was never my strong point." Conner made a face. "And he's so freaking sensitive."

"Yeah, he is," Cally said. "Just gotta be careful with him, you know?"

"And see, now we're back to the whole problem of me lacking tact." Conner grimaced. "And Zero's already threatened to mallet me if I hurt him."

"Well, yeah," Cally said. "But going on not knowing what's going on? Might hurt him too."

"He is still pretty much my boyfriend at the moment," Conner who totally wasn't aware of that at all anyway said, grimacing again in confusion. "And I don't want people killing me for hurting him."

"No one will actually kill you," Cally said. "So who's this Maureen, anyways? I don't think I've met her... is she in one of your classes?"

"I don't think she goes to school here, actually. She said she was brand new in town. She seems older . . ."

"Older?" Cally gave Conner a look. "Good luck with that."

"I just have very bad luck with girls," Conner said, shrugging.

"Right," Cally said. "I'm sure there's a nice tree girl out there for you. Or guy. Or whatever. You know?"

"Yeah, I guess." Conner shrugged again, guiltily. "It's just . . . in the long run, it's not gonna be him, I know that."

Cally nodded. "I know how that feels," she said.

"Doesn't mean I want to see him all broken up again like he was over you, though." Conner kicked absently at the floor. "Which he still is, sometimes. Man, this sucks."
