Isabel sat on the counch watching March of the Penguins hoping a movie about Antartica would help her not think about how hot it was. It wasn't working.

"And doggone it, people like me," Isabel snickered. "Your daily affirmations? Personally I'm leaning more towards thoughts of freezing temperatures and snowstorms. Only without the snow monsters."

"Oh, those kinds of cool thoughts," Peter joked. "Sorry, some slight confusion there."

"Yes, those kind of cool thoughts. Ones that make me forget that I'm living in what feels like a sauna at the moment," she said. "I hate humidity."

"Think of it this way: you can be here with friends and humidity, or back in Roswell with dry heat and Max driving you crazy," Peter said.

"You have a very, very good point," Isabel nodded. "If I was there I'd have probably killed him by now. And that would be bad."

"It's generally bad to kill your sibling, yes," Peter said. "But I suppose it might feel good at the time."

"It would have," she agreed. "I just couldn't find a good enough spot to hide the body."

"You could always pull a Weekday at Ernie's thing. Put sunglasses on him and pretend he's alive while working yourself into and out of completely contrived situations," Peter said.

"All I'd need to do is prop him up in his room in the dark with the Counting Crowes playing." Isabel rolled her eyes, "No one would ever be able to tell the difference."

"So what else have you been up to?"

"I've been experimenting with different webbing compounds to try out next time I'm back home. I developed this one that starts out as a small pellet, but rapidly expands on impact, capturing whomever gets hit with it in a thick layer of growing webbing," Peter said. "The good news is that it works."

"And I've been reading trashy novels. Suddenly I feel like such a slacker. I'm sensing a but to this story though. What's the bad news?"

"The bad news is that 'impact' can also be defined as 'squeezing too hard with tweezers' and resulted in my arm being stuck to my desk for two hours," Peter explained.

"Oops!" Isabel laughed. "You should have called me. I probably could have gotten you free."

"There was no need. I got to see how long that webbing lasted," Peter said. "And also Zero stopped by, so..."

"Practical experimentation, I understand." Isabel grinned when he mentioned Zero, "And then Zero stopped by an you were otherwise occupied. I get that."

"Making lemonade out of lemons, then having the cute waitress bring it to you, yes," Peter said. "How about you? Been doing anything fun the past couple days?"

"Yay lemonade!" Isabel cheered. "Nothing too exciting. That's this weekend. Did Greg tell you about our trip?"

"No, he didn't," Peter said, curious.

"This all started when Jarod, Parker's boyfriend, and I made a quick trip to Delaware for a prank," Isabel explained. "He said he'd never had a chance to do a real road trip with friends before. Parker and I decided we needed to fix that. So Parker and Jarod, Greg and I, and Jack Harkness and Sam and Cedric are going rafting this weekend."

"Oh, very cool," Peter said. "Sounds like a lot of fun."

"I hope so. If not I'll have six people looking to kill me." Isabel grinned. "I'm pretty sure even if it's fun Parker will be looking to kill me after we camp out next to the river all night. No electricity or hot water."

"That's definitely going to be interesting," Peter said. "I'll be happy here with the nice air conditioning, personally."

"I didn't think we'd be in the middle of a heat wave when we started to plan this," Isabel pointed out. "Feel free to mock us when we stumble back on Sunday."

"I'll probably be too tired from staying in the AC all weekend to do any mocking," Peter said, "so I'll do it now."

Isabel did the mature thing. She stuck her tongue out at him.
