Gym, Tuesday morning

Cameron was working the bag a bit enthusiastically this morning. Chances were that he was trying not to think too much about the fact that it was the last time he was going to be training with someone. It wasn't working.

"Oh... she is so going to pay for that," Marty said with a grin. "Yeah I haven't been much of a social creature lately plus I was gone for most of the summer as well. Anything new with you?"

"I'm an official candidate for the Air Force Academy," Cameron told him happily. "Which doesn't mean that I'm in just yet, but I got through the first round."

"Really? That's great!" Marty replied. "I'm currently trying to figure out the whole post-graduation thing myself. Angela and I are supposed to make an overnight trip to visit colleges this weekend."

"You mean after high school or after I work out?" Marty asked. "If it's after high school? College and then I have no idea. Nothing. Zip. I'd like find something that would help make up for... what I did before I came to FH. I thought about joining the peace corps but the only true experience I have involves firearms and I don't think that's something the corps would by into."

"Maybe Angel's got some ideas?" Cameron suggested, knowing that the vampire was into the whole redeeming yourself thing. "There's plenty of jobs out there that help people. Heck, if you go to college first, I'm sure you can pick up on some other new skills if you want to join the peace corps for sure."

Marty raised his eyebrows at the suggestion. "Yeah, I guess I could drop Angel a call and see if he has any suggestions. Maybe I'll just do the typical student thing and enter college with an undeclared major and see where it takes me."

Marty then shakes his head and sighs. "Anyhow... Tell me about the academy enrollment process? What else do you have to do to get in?"

"You might find what you want to do when you're not really looking for it," Cameron nodded.

"There's a couple of things I need to get done before the end of the year. I need to do a physical aptitude test, there's a medical. Then I've got to get some more papers in order and arrange for a congressional interview and one with the admission liaison officer."

Marty looked impressed. "Man they really make you jump through a lot of hoops, don't they? Have you gotten your congressional interview set up yet? If Professor Lyman comes back to teach this year I'm betting he'd be a good guy to help set that up."
