Gun Range: Thursday Mid-Afternoon

Peter got to the gun range just minutes before he was to meet Susan.  He set up the archery targets and pulled his sword out of the weapons' locker to check it over while he waited for Susan.

[OOC: Gun Range is open as long as you don't mind sharing it with bow people!]

Susan arrived precisely on time, and smiled when she saw Peter. "Hello, Peter. Are you having a good Thursday?"

Susan's eyebrows went up, but she only hmmmmmm'd at his response. "I'm glad to hear it. And busy," she said, unpacking her bow, "Getting ready for the new students next week. I am so hoping we can prepare them for this place. Although I'm not sure that's truly possible."

"Oh, that's good to know." She started to string her bow, and saw that he had Rhindon out. "Going to practice with Willow later?"

"Ah." Testing the bowstring, Susan's expression became nonchalant. "So. This weekend is supposed to be sunny and nice, I heard."

"Particularly fine on Sunday. Or so I've heard." She pulled back the string, sighted, and let fly. The arrow hit high, but in the rings, and Susan took out another arrow, correcting her aim.

"Hmmmm. Really? You think so?" Susan kept her eyes forward, but the smile was growing into almost a grin. "Something that happened, oh, perhaps seventy-six years ago? Although it certainly doesn't seem that way."

"It would certainly be a nice end to the summer," Susan said hopefully, "And while I'm far too old to be greedy for presents, cake and ice cream and time outside are always delightful."

*thwiiiing* Bull's eye.

"Thanks. And perhaps simply too old to admit to being greedy. Since I may be thirty-five or seventy-six, but either way, clapping my hands over packages is undignified." Susan dimpled at him, then said, "Janet and Jenny, if she's back. Willow, of course. Anyone you think would appreciate a picnic? I should ask Professor Tick or some of my other colleagues, but I'm afraid they'll be even busier than I am, getting ready for the influx."

"Oh, I don't know. Something simple. She shouldn't go to the trouble of making me a handkerchief, for instance." Susan smiled, then bit her lip thoughtfully. "A new book would be lovely. Or cookies? I know she made you a cake, some time back."

"Oh, certainly you will." Susan shook her head at him, laughing and said, "Saturday I think a great many people will be tired from the dance marathon. Perhaps we should plan this for Sunday?"

"I look forward to having something to wave at -- well, basketball is over, isn't it?" Susan nocked another arrow, felt the pull on the bow, and let fly. "Afternoon it is. Out to the Wilderness Preserve. I shan't get out there as much, once classes start."

[identity profile] susanofnarnia.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Most definitely. I'd hate to wake them while they're sleeping." Susan sent another arrow inside the inner ring, then handed the bow to her brother. "Now, your turn."

"They might have known something once, but they've been here some time." Susan sighed. "I'm not getting my hopes up. But it'll be nice to see them again. Perhaps at the Equinox?"

River had sneaked in, and quietly sat watching the arrows fly across the room.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
River waved. "Hello Peter. Don't shoot me."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good. I thought you might want to get back at me for that water balloon." River grinned.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good point. So I should be scared?" River looked mischiveous.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can read minds," River pointed out.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not really," River admitted. "I shouldn't anyway."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know." There was a hint of guilt in her tone.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
That brought a small smile back on River's face. She shook her head. "No. I don't."

Then she looked at him nervously. "Have you talked to Tyler recently?"

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"I haven't seen him since we... split up. Still angry. But... he's ok?" She just wanted to make sure.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh," River said. "Please, don't tell him I asked?"

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy to change the subject too, River shook her head. "No." She considered asking if she could try.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd like that," River replied. "Both trying the bow and meeting your sister."
