Lana's Birthday Party: Common Room 4th Floor

A section of the common room was decorated with balloons, streamers and a Happy Birthday Lana banner. A cake sat in the middle of a table ready to slice. Confetti, noise makers and little curls of ribbon littered the two surrounding tables, a third table for presents was decorated with just as much fanfare.

"I've been doing well," he said. "Haven't seen Kaylee lately, but otherwise I've been great."

"Well, hopefully you'll get to spend some time with her soon," Lana said encouragingly. "She sounds like a really nice girl."

"I'm great," Lana said with a smile. "One of the best I've had so far."

"Good," Joxer said. "Everyone should always have a great birthday. It's in the rules. Not that I think there are actual rules about this, but I'm sure somewhere someone wrote some, and if I was really careful about it, I'm sure I'd be able to read that everyone needs to have a great birthday is on the top of the list."

"That sounds like a nice rule," Lana said with a smile. "If this one stays nice it will rank second on my list. Usually weird things happen on my birthday. I've learned not to expect too much."

"Weird is kind of common here," Joxer said. "I'll try to fend off anything that's the bad kind of weird, though. Don't want anything to ruin this for you."

"Aw... that's so sweet of you. Thank you, Joxer." She leaned in impulsively to try and give him a kiss on the cheek.

Joxer blushed a bit when Lana kissed his cheek. "It's the least a mighty warrior can do," he said.
