Lavender shyly walked into the common room and found herself a seat. She sat there idly flipping through a copy of Witch Weekly and looking around for some fellow students.

"Twins, random doubles, clones, or duplicates?" Z asked them. Any of the above were possibilities, as far as she was concerned.

"Twins." It had started to sound like a little accapello duet whenever they were around. "There are clones around here?" Any sort of strange occurance seemed to strike their interest easily.

"Possibly. I think that was what Alec and Dean decided they were, anyway." Z frowned. "Do you...always speak in unison?"

"It just seems to happen that way." They smirk in amusement. "But it's not like we can't speak separately." Kaoru offers a single voice as reassurance.

"Just checking. I'm Z Delgado. Nice to meet you."

"I'm Kaoru Hitachiin" "And I'm Hikaru Hitachiin." Not that a name will be of use to telling the two identical twins apart. They bow shortly. "Why is your name only a single letter?"

"Oh, it's a nickname," she explained. "My real name is Elizabeth, but no one calls me that."

They nod. They had hoped for a more riveting story than that, so their expressions seem a bit blank after that.

Z seemed to have two problems. She'd forgotten her book, and the twins looked bored. She could fix both. Her eyes glowed briefly, and then there was another Z standing there. "Go get our book," the first one said. "You know where we left it."

The new Z folded her arms over her chest and said, "You know, one of Madrox's went evil."

"I'm not Jamie. Book. Chop-chop." The replicate rolled her eyes, but went to find Z's latest trashy romance novel.

Both sets of eyes widened before twin grins spread across their faces. "Neat trick. Use it often?" Their voices had a more mischievous tone to them, the mentioned word 'evil' ringing in their ears.

Z grinned. "Didn't used to, but things are better here."

"Is it real? A solid other person with separate thoughts and everything?" As Hikaru was interested in science, he felt the need to ask.

"Depends on your definition of 'real.' She's solid, yeah, and they can think for themselves, but mine always do what I tell them to."

"You seemed to think she mistook you for someone else. Can you make more doubles or something?" Kaoru tilts his head in wonder.

"I can make up to eight or so...oh, you mean when I mentioned Jamie. No, there's another guy here that can do the same thing, but his duplicates don't always behave like mine do."

"Ah... so you can almost make an army if you wanted." Hikaru mused. Not that he was thinking about DOING that or anything...

"Sure could, but hopefully I won't have to do that this semester."

"Oh, so you've had experience." They nod in approval.

"Yeah." Most of it trying to get away from cops back home, before she became a cop-trainee herself. "Rory Gilmore read a book in ancient Egyptian, and there was a thing with mummies..."

The ultimate conclusion had just been reached. They had picked the right school.
