4th Floor Hallway [Tuesday Afternoon]

Since Syd's departure her dorm room has been surprisingly lonely. So Mac has taken a couple of fat beanbags from her newly all-her-own room, a large mug of coffee, and her laptop and has taken up residence in the fourth floor hallway.

She has sustainance, her laptop jingling music at her... and the company of anyone passing by. It's way better than being sat in her dorm room all on her own.

[[ooc: Come, drink her coffee, eat her food, mock her music. The corridor is the new common room.]

"Well, nice meeting you, Naomi. What made you end up in our wild and tiny town?" asked Anders, leaning against the wall.

"Parents idea," Naomi replied, "after living on earth for two years they decided that I was better off attending a high school for a normal experience," she paused, "mom found out about the school, even though I have a feeling that she doesn't know the exact ... uniqueness of Fandom High,"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Tell you the truth, I'm not sure if any of our parents knew how unique this place was," Anders said. "What've people warned you about so far?"

[identity profile] ktarian-wildman.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
"The time difference being one of the main things," Naomi replied, "I'm from the year 2380 and I learnt on Sunday that it's the year 2006,"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, yeah. We get 'em from all over the timeline here. There was a guy from, like, 1086 or something like that, I'm actually ten years older than my ex-girlfriend even though we're from the same place, and my best friend is from 2025." He wrinkled his nose in thought. "I'm not sure if where I'm from is in the future or the past according to here, though. Nobody's bothered to figure out the conversion from Colonial time . . . probably because nobody back home really believes this planet exists."

[identity profile] ktarian-wildman.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Naomi had to admit that she found learning about different timelines interesting, "the majority of the planets back home don't exist here either ... it's strange finding out things that you're used to don't actually exist in other ... well dimensions I guess," she paused, "not that I've had experience in this kind of thing, even though I thought I'd seen weird stuff growing up on a spaceship and all,"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Well," Anders explained, "there's this whole thing about how the twelve colonies in our system actually had a thirteenth that took off somewhere different and ended up on Earth. But most people in the Colonies believe that's just a myth. And that's not all that weird compared to the people who sort of know each other here, because they're friends with other versions of the same people in their own dimensions."

He raised an eyebrow, interested. "You grew up on a spaceship?"

Naomi nodded, "I was born on the USS Voyager, a federation starship ... or at least in my dimension it is, I was the first child born on Voyager when it was stranded in the Delta Quadrant ..." she considered that last statement, remembering when she had said that she had lived in the Delta Quadrant before, no one had heard of it, "the Delta Quadrant is the upper right hand corner of the Milky Way Galaxy, in my dimension that is ... it was a region of space that hadn't been really explored yet by Starfleet and it took Voyager a while to return to Earth,"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't really know where any of those places are," Anders admitted with an embarrassed smile. "I don't even know where my own planet is in relation to the Thirteenth Colony -- sorry, Earth. I'm guessing the Federation is something like our Colonial Fleet?"

[identity profile] ktarian-wildman.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
"It appears so, at least sharing similar characteristics" Naomi replied, considering the two, "the Federation is made up of different worlds, with one purpose and that's for being united in space exploration ... it's the driving force of Starfleet, whose mission is to seek out new worlds and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before," Naomi paused, "I hope to go to Starfleet Academy when I finish High School and eventually become a Starfleet Captain, like my Captain on Voyager ... Captain Janeway, well actually she's an Admiral now, for the last couple of years of Voyager's journey I served as her Captain's Assistant,"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Captain's Assistant? Sounds like you've got a head start." Anders smiled. "Though our Fleet is just made up of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. We don't really deal too much with new civilizations since the only other ones we know of are the Cylons, and well, they're just robots. Hey, are you taking Interstellar Relations too, then?"

[identity profile] ktarian-wildman.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Naomi nodded, "I signed up for the class, it sounds interesting,"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Cool! We'll be classmates then, hopefully." Anders chewed his lip, thinking. "What's the teacher's name? Roslin . . . Roslin. Sounds vaguely familiar but frak if I can figure out where I've heard it before."

[identity profile] ktarian-wildman.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
That was the second time that Naomi had heard the word 'frak' used in a sentence, by this stage she had gathered that it was common vocabulary around here at Fandom, "The name Roslin isn't familiar to me at all," Naomi gave a small frown as she racked her brains trying to remember if she'd ever come across it, "but I'm sure it will be a good class nevertheless," she smiled.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm hoping so. Not that I know when I'm ever going to need it since I plan to go into sports, but you never know, right?" Anders grinned.

[identity profile] ktarian-wildman.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Right," Naomi replied, also grinning even though she wasn't exactly into sports and all but she did know the smallest piece of information could prove to be vital one day.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Right about then, Anders's stomach started to growl, and he frowned in the direction of the telltale sound. "Okay. I'm thinking I need to go get myself some dinner. I'll see you around, okay?"

[identity profile] ktarian-wildman.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Naomi nodded, "it was nice talking to you Anders,"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
"You too, Naomi." He flashed her one more friendly grin before he turned to leave. "If things are still kind of overwhelming, feel free to look me up and freak out at me, or something, 'kay?"

[identity profile] ktarian-wildman.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay," Naomi nodded, "I'll see you later sometime,"
