Having rummaged through every drawer in Angela's room to no avail, the gremlin-bitten girl went to what looked like some kind of living room. She climbed up on the counter and started poking through the cabinets; there had to be alcohol somewhere.

After all, this was, like, some fancy boarding school, right?

"Yeah. So those transwhozits. Those are what no one else can do."

"Transmutations," Alphonse corrected. "It's still entirely possible to change, say... lead into gold without the use of alchemy though."

"In labs?" Alphonse suggested. "Their atomic properties are very close to one another, which is why it's entirely possible to change them around to begin with."

"Do we have those kinds of labs around here?"

"If not, I'll bet someone would be more than happy to turn one of the science rooms into one if given the opportunity."

"Why can't you accept that you do something impressive?"

"Bwah?" Alphonse stared at her blankly. "I didn't deny anything!"

"Sure you did."

"When did I do that?"

"When you started arguing that anyone can do what you do, when obviously it's not true."

"Well, alchemy, no. But changing elements and other objects around can be done if you have the right tools."

"Al . . ." Nadia shook her head. How to put this? "I don't care. The fact that you can do something cool is enough. Not everything has to be a lesson."
