Second Floor Common Room [Saturday Morning]

Not wanting to disturb Edward by making lots of noise in their dorm room, Shawn has taken himself and his guitar along to the second floor common room.

He sorted himself some toast, surprisingly without setting fire to anything, and is now lounged out on a sofa strumming away and humming quietly to himself.

Parker grinned, and said, "Yay for not being another face in the crowd." She took a sip of coffee, and said, "Liz said she got her classes-- did you check on yours yet?"

Sam groaned and just handed her schedule to Parker. "It does say Samantha Carter at the top, right? Not some other Sam?"

"Samantha Carter... Dance? Music? Um." Parker looked at the name at the top, then looked at the classes again. "Ethics? Like that's ever a good idea. The Office staff is amusing themselves at your expense. I'm taking Dance and Music too, but I *meant* to."

Sam pointed. "You forgot media and communication. Reporters. Ugh."

"Eeek," Parker agreed. "What did you actually sign up for? Maybe you can drop one or two, and substitute them. Be sneaky about it."

"Science, the second half of the Doctor's class, a couple of others that I've forgotten...I mean, ethics? And who the heck is this Vader guy?"

Parker looked at the schedule again, frowned as something about the name sounded very, very vaguely familiar, then said, "No idea. Must be new. So's the dance teacher, but keep Music? Lorne's teaching it, it should be a blast."

"Parker," Sam confided in a horrified whisper, "I can't sing. If it's not music appreciation, you're all going to need earplugs."

Parker bit her lip, eyes widening, and lowered her voice. "Maybe you can sing very, very softly? Or, I don't know. Play the bongos? It worked for Cal."

"Maybe," Sam frowned in thought. "So, any plans for today? One last hurrah before classes start?"

"Watching the auditions for Zero's band, and kibbitzing, since I don't get a say on who gets in unless they're obviously insane as well as musically talented." She grinned. "I'm the manager. And after that, tracking down the boyfriend. Who's Up to Something."

"Something?" Sam raised both eyebrows in question.

"He's not reachable at home this week, just by cellphone. Said he had a 'project' here in town. I'd be afraid, but nothing's caught on fire yet, so...."

"No explosions and nothing on the radio?"

"Nooo. And you'd think there would be by now, Jarod or not, wouldn't you? Just mentions of him at work, which are never informative. He could be doing anything." She grinned. "I'm calling to harass him later, if he doesn't show up at the auditions."

"...why would he show up at the auditions?"

"Because they're open to anyone, and I'm managing the band. And I've learned to expect him anywhere. He's like Batman! a superhero that way."

Sam snickered. "Does he sing or play an instrument?"

Parker bit her lip and looked rueful. "I'm sure he could play an instrument? But the one time anyone tried to teach him, he was extremely resistant to the idea. And his singing is... not bad." She grinned. "But I'm his girlfriend. I might be biased."
