Fourth Floor Common Room, Saturday Morning

Joxer was in the kitchen area, scrounging up foodstuffs to prepare an apology breakfast for Agnes. Thankfully for Agnes and the world in general, he was unable to find any turnips.

So here he was, making toast in the toasty-machine, and pouring a big bowl of chocolate cereal.

There'd probably be enough cereal and toast to share with more than just his roommate, too.

[ooc: Oooopen!]

Cedric doesn't miss that sound and looked down at the source of the noise. "Are you all right?"

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm fine," Agnes said, feeling her ears start to burn. "It's this," she pulled out the frog. "I need to return it to the pond today."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, he's not a pet?" Cedric grinned down at the frog. "Maybe he just likes being with you?"

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," Agnes smiled slightly and held it up at eye level. "I just needed him for a little task and now he can go home."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"He's rather cute," Cedric said and shook his head at that word. "I knew someone at my former school who had a frog as a pet. He was always attempting to escape."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Agnes smiled down at the frog in her hand, which wasn't trying to hop away. "You just have to know how to talk to them."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, he didn't," Cedric laughed. "I was always more fond of owls."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Were you?" Agnes looked away from the frog up to Cedric. "Do you live somewhere with many owls?"

More importantly, are there more of him at home? asked Perdita.

You need to think about other things.

One of has to think about it, since you don't

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Very many, yes," Cedric replied. "Owls are used to deliver mail where I'm from. Morning breakfast at Hogwarts included daily visits from owls with letters. Very kind creatures."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Agnes asked, eyes widening slightly. "How do you get them to do that?"

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm not entirely sure," he admitted. "I was raised using owls for letters and the like. I think it might just be how the owls are bred and raised. I wasn't able to bring mine here so I'm having to learn how to use this postal system."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"We usually sent our letters by coach," Agnes said. "I don't think that will work here, and I don't think there's a clacks system set up, so I don't know how I'll be getting letters home unless I can find something in one of the books I brought."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've actually been unable to get anything through to my home," he said sadly. "I haven't heard from my parents since arriving."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Agnes' brow puckered at the thought of being completely out of touch with home. "Is it like that for everyone?"

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I believe I'm just running into difficulty with the types of systems used to send mail," Cedric replied. "I've sent one letter and it's either taking an exceptionally long time to get there or it's been lost."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps it's not getting to the right owl?" If that was how it worked.

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps," Cedric said. "I'm just not certain that delivery from this world would translate, for lack of a better word, to delivery into that world."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hope you get that worked out, Cedric. I would be," will be? "very upset if I lost touch with my mum. Even when I was in Ankh-Morpork, I wrote often."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ankh-Morpork?" Cedric repeated, testing the words. "I don't believe I've heard of that place. Is it far from here?"

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a familiar question and Agnes nodded. "It's another world, I'm told, so yes, it's quite far, although it didn't seem that far by broom."

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"You ride a broom too?" Cedric asked excitedly.

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Too? Oh, wait. Jack had said there were others, but this was a boy.

"Yes. I met someone who said that there were a couple of people here who did. You're one of them, then?"

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am," he said with a nod. "It's one of the most common methods of travel where I'm from. I haven't ridden since arriving but I do have it with me."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Where I'm from only witches use brooms to travel," Agnes said while trying to picture the skies filled with people on brooms.

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Where I'm from, only witches and wizards live," he said quietly.
