Roof, Sunday Night

Pip was up on the roof plunking on his guitar, staring up into the stars.

Jesus. Poor Marie. And to think he started this day planning on soaking everyone.

*totally had mention of Sakurazaki in Agnes' writing sample*

Agnes stared for a moment before approaching, clearly fascinated. "Oh my. Hello."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
*eeee! i feel special! =D*

Sakurazaki nodded; if wings could nod, they would have, too. "Hello."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Agnes may as well have been speaking to her wings. "Those are beautiful." She looked back at Sakurazaki and blushed. "I'm sorry. Hello. I'm Agnes."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki's shoulders slumped forward; so did the wings, covering her face a little bit, which was good, because Sakurazaki, too, was blushing. Beautiful. She tried not to scoff. "They're a pain," she grumbled, and then realized that she might have sounded a little rude or arrogant, and shook her head. "I..I'm sorry." She pulled the wings back from her face and gave the other girl a nod. "Hello, Agnes, I'm..." A pause of consideration. "Sakurazaki. But you can call me Setsuna if you'd like. It doesn't really matter to me."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I can see how they'd be a bother. I mean, how do you sleep?" Agnes came closer and resisted the urge to touch them. And what could be done with feathers from them... she could almost feel the sort of magic.

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Almost as if sensing her desire to touch them, the wings seemed to stretch out for her as she neared. "They're not usually out like this," Sakurazaki explained, barely noticing their actions; they'd been acting so strangely all day that she'd just started ignoring it. "They fold quite nicely into the space between my shoulder blades." She arched her back a little as if to display that spot better. "But I will have to sleep on my stomach tonight, definately." She grinned a little.

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Agnes reached up and gently touched Sakurazaki's wing. It was real, and it didn't feel unnatural.

"You were born like this." It wasn't a question, just one of those things that might be intuition, or might be a touch of magic.

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
The shivers running through her down as the wings were touched suddenly turned into something tense, and they withdrew sharply as Sakurazaki squared her shoulders, her throat suddenly tight. First the twins, and now this girl could tell? But to what extent, she wondered. Was it merely that she could tell that they were as much a part of Sakurazaki's physical construction as her left arm or her nose? Or...could she tell why?

Sakurazaki nodded, keeping her head down. "That's right."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sorry," Agnes said again. "I didn't mean to say anything wrong. I've never seen anyone like you before. I've never even heard of anyone like you before and your wings are so beautiful."

Stop babbling at her.

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
The pink in Sakurazaki's face was quickly turning into a fierce red; thank God for the night. Maybe this was why she was so reluctant to bother meeting any of the new kids; she was finally starting to feel comfortable with the damn things and now she had to go through all this again. And this one just going on and on...Yeah, okay, she was a freak, she got it.

"It's okay," she said quietly. "I know they're kind of different. I usually don't keep them out." They were drawing in closer to her back as she considered possibly putting them away again.

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
You aren't helping her. Look at her wings. You really shouldn't open your mouth.

"It's alright. I'm sort of envious. It has to be better than my broom." She tried for some humor. "Do you know how much my bum hurts after riding that thing?"

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
The humour seemed to work a bit; the wings stopped receeding, although they stayed close, and Sakurazaki smiled a little, although she kept her eyes down. "Negi-sensei often complained about that, too," she said, "but he used a wand, rather than a broom. You're a wizard, then, I take it? If you don't mind me asking..." Finally, she turned the smile toward Agnes.

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, no. There aren't any girl wizards where I'm from." Except that one girl Granny had told her about, and that was a bad thing. "The magic's different. I'm a witch. No wand and mostly no spells like Cedric told me about."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki blushed again. "I have to admit, I have trouble understanding the difference." Which was very bad, she reminded herself sharply, if you're best friend's going to be the greatest magician in the East and you her partner, and you can't even tell if she's a witch or a wizard. "The most I can do with magic is a stupid little flame on my finger and some paper golems...."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
"That's more wizard's magic where I'm from," Agnes said, noticing that most people here bought into the idea of flashy magic. It did make headology easier, at least.

She tried to explain it the way she had to Jack. "Witches' magic is more about finding the cracks in things and putting wedges in them. Not so easy to see."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki grew very contemplative over Agnes' analogy, but wasn't quite sure if she understood. "So...more like preventative magic?" she ventured a guess, thinking of all the magicians she'd known and fought against, trying to think of perhaps an example. "Finding the potential problems with things and using magic to fix them up?"

[[ alas, it is crashing time ]]

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Not exactly." Agnes scratched her head and tried to figure out how to explain headology and witch magic. "Part of being a witch is being able to see the truth of things. Sometimes the truth is that things are broken for a reason, and fixing them just makes something else break worse somewhere else. But when we do use magic, usually it's just knowing where we can crack things open and get in. It's more a feeling than wizard science with books and numbers."

[ooc: No worries. Gnite.]

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"So it's more intuition?"

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Magic intuition, maybe?" Agnes offered, since it didn't seem she was going to be able to explain this properly.

"But I'm learning that there are many more kinds of witches and wizards than I had ever heard of before."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki nodded. "I know I have trouble keeping them all straight, but, as I mentioned, I never have been very magically inclined, myself."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"What sort of education are you here for?" Agnes asked curiously. "Everyone has something a little different."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki winced a little; just when she felt she was getting away from that sort of topic....

"Technically speaking?" she said, turning her head a little so Agnes would see that she was serious and not trying to make a joke or stupid comment. "Real life training. I was sent here to try and learn how to be a 'normal' girl, because Konoko-Ojou-sama thought I'd had way too much of the swords and the spying and the missions in Japan, and that it prevented me from ever just being me."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Agnes cocked her head, catching the subtext about normalcy and how Sakurazi seemed to be seeking it.

"I- It sounds very romantic. Which means dangerous and trying." She nodded decisively. "Some time at school sounds like just the trick."

Not that she had a clue about most of what Sakurazaki had said, but the point was still evident.

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
R...romantic? Sakurazaki lowered her head, turning bright red. Even if Agnes had specified the other kind of romantic, it just sent her head drifting off other places.

"It...it's been good for me, definately."

[identity profile] singasoloduet.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
So the girl with the wings wanted normal things. Agnes could understand that.

What was more normal than talking about school?

"Which classes are you taking? I'm a little nervous about tomorrow."
