The gym, Monday afternoon

After fifth period is over, Aeryn bypasses going up to her room to go straight down to the gym. Peter's out of classes first, but she likes to try to get there early to warm up a little. She drops her bag at the door, gets out her gloves, and starts out easy on the bag.

Tyler didn't have class, so he slept in before heading down to the gym for a session on the elliptical trainer. "Hi, Aeryn."

Tyler shook his head. "Not until Ethics tomorrow," he said. "What about you?"

Tyler frowned. "No, you're right. Ethics is Thursday, Criminal Justice is tomorrow. The teacher's names mix me up, Vader and V."

The fumble catches Tyler's attention, and he quits running, because he gets the sense Aeryn rarely misses a punch and he wants to be as serious as she is. "That's what it says on my schedule," he said. "Do you know someone by that name?"

And now Tyler is frozen. "I'm getting the impression he shouldn't be."

He thinks about claiming to have remembered it wrong -- he messed up the day, after all -- but he's somehow sure he didn't.

Tyler tilted his head. "Want to tell me what's up?"

Tyler nodded slowly. "Saturday, yeah. He was perky. Said his dad was Anakin Skywalker, which is bizarre, especially given the rest of what he said."

Peter came down to the gym, ready to learn how to actually fight. It would be a good thing to learn after all this time. "Hey," he said, walking over.

Peter caught the gloves and put them on. "Thanks for agreeing to this. I have a feeling it'll be a big help to me down the line."

"Plus, if I actually know how to fight, I'll be better suited to incorporating it into my own style," Peter said. "Okay, how do we start?"

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-09-04 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter thought for a moment about how he normally threw punches while standing up and realized that he wasn't really sure how he did. Normally it was a glorified clubbing blow combined with some sort of forward motion. Sometimes upside down.

So he overthought it and threw a quick but slightly awkward straight punch.

"As long as you don't need to see technically pretty punches, I'm good with those. As for blocking, I mostly dodge, so that could probably use some work," Peter said.
