3rd Floor Common Room, Tuesday Late Morning/Early Afternoon

Matilda had woken up a bit late craving pancakes. She had brought along a fairly large box of pancake mix because her mother knew it was her very favorite food. She even had a gigantic bottle of syrup to go along with it. She decided to make some before class. (Un)fortunately she got a bit carried away and made way more than she could eat. She waited around and left the griddle on in case she could find a few people to eat her leftovers.

((ooc: Free until about 1:30 eastern time, gone for class for an hour then back again for the rest of the night))

Pup jumped up to try to lick her sinuses face.

Walter decided she must have been so distracted by Pup that she missed the rest of the introduction.

"Walter Dornez. I'm just down the hall in 303."

This was a tiny girl, particularly from his 6' height. Walter shook her hand and smiled while Pup continued to dance around her feet.

"A pleasure. New student, I assume. How are you finding Fandom so far?"

Walter smiled at her enthusiasm, although he'd never read a book quite like Fandom. "Ah, you've met Schrodinger. I'll ask the standard questions, are you from this world and time?"

"No," Walter said and laughed. "I'm from London in 1944. And I know precisely what you mean. Fandom is an education even without classes."

Walter's genuine smile faded into something superficially pleasant. "I'd rather be home, but I like Fandom."

And time for a subject change. "Have you had any classes yet?"

"Astronomy? Interesting subject. I don't believe I've met the teacher," Walter said, his smile starting to warm again. "I've been to my first Prophecy class and Creature Languages, where I'm the TA."

"Well, the new teacher has renamed it 'Cross Species Communication,' but it's still the same idea as the Creature Languages class I took in the spring," Walter said. "And it's pretty much what the name says it is, we learn the languages of animals. It's very useful."

Walter smiled reassuringly. "You'll have another chance in the spring. And yes, you can learn that. If nothing else, it let my girlfriend's cat threaten me in a way I could understand."

And warn them about Jamie.

"I'm hoping our studies with Hound this semester will help me understand Pup."

The only way this school could be better, in Walter's opinion, would be if it were in London, preferably in 1944.

"Which classes are you taking now?"

"You can't be late for your first day. I'll have to see you around the dorms, since we don't have any classes together."
