3rd Floor Common Room, Tuesday Late Morning/Early Afternoon

Matilda had woken up a bit late craving pancakes. She had brought along a fairly large box of pancake mix because her mother knew it was her very favorite food. She even had a gigantic bottle of syrup to go along with it. She decided to make some before class. (Un)fortunately she got a bit carried away and made way more than she could eat. She waited around and left the griddle on in case she could find a few people to eat her leftovers.

Naomi realizes that she musn't be making much sense and so she decides to elaborate, "where I come from we're pretty big on space exploration, Starfleet is an organization, which is the driving force of the federation, which is made up of a number of worlds ... I was born on the Starship Voyager, a federation starship" she explains, "its original mission got side tracked and wound up 75 000 lightyears away from earth, a 75 year journey ended up taking 7 years to return to Earth ... I spent my childhood on Voyager,"

"Yeah the speed of the ship is referred to as warp speed, the barrier's ten (ooc: despite it being thirteen in the original series) - the safest highest speed is warp nine," Naomi explained, "In my universe at least blackholes are real, Voyager encountered a couple of them in the Delta Quadrant, sometimes they're similiar to worm holes and can be used to travel through, there are accounts of ships, which have done that,)

Naomi considered her response, "well I guess the real interesting difference is that my Earth is in peace," Naomi replied, "internally that is, like they're not fighting other countries," she paused, "ever since Cochran developed the first ship that could fly faster than light in 2063 it was humanity's goal to stop war, disease and povery, within the first 50 years those objectives were accomplished,"

"It is," Naomi agreed, "I've only lived there for two years but I grew to like it, I heard about it a lot from my mother and the other Voyager crew but back then I wasn't that keen on arriving on Earth ... I didn't think that I would like but I did,"

Naomi considered her response, "It's not that bad, it's different from what I expected," she answered truthfully, "My parents thought that this would be a good school for me to attend, I wasn't that thrilled about coming here but now that I've been here for a week and classes have started, I like it ..." she paused, "what about you?" she asked

"I have to agree about everyone being interesting and the classes are wonderful," Naomi smiled, "I don't think my parents realised just how unique this school was when they decided to send me here ... I have to say that I've never dealt with the issue of people teasing me but I wouldn't like that if that were to happen to me. I'm glad no one here does it to you," she said honestly
