Since she's now afraid of her computer-- at least until someone explains how not to find pornography to her-- and Mrs. Gilmore told her to watch television, Evie has decided to do her homework.

She is currently watching a rerun of Crime & Justice. It's not entirely clear to her how it works, but it's definitely fascinating.

JD slapped his hand to Pete's and gave him a thumbs up signal.

"Sure is! Whatcha doing?"

"Dunno, wanderin'." Pete blinked at his slapped hand, then offered a thumbs up back. "Yourself?"

JD grinned back.

"Getting my groove on, looking for chicks, hanging out. That sort of thing."

JD looked at Pete strangely.

"Nah man, girls."

JD suddenly had a thought and lowered his voice.

"You do like girls, right? I mean, if you don't, that's ok."

"Of course I like girls! What the hell kind of question is that?!"

JD held up both his hands in a gesture of pacification.

"Hey! I didn't meany offense."

He lowered his voice again.

"There's a lot of weird people around here, so I thought I'd make sure."

He clapped Pete on the back.

"Glad to know you're on my team though, if you catch my drift."

"Yes." Pete frowned. "But what does this have to do with chicks?"

JD, who was beginning to grow accustomed to explaining things like slang, gave it another try.

"Chicks is another term for girls. It's slang."

"I see. I can't say I understand the need to liken a woman to a baby chicken--Ohhhhhhhh. I do understand."

JD nodded, bobbing his head deliberately.
