5th Floor Common Room - evening

Since she's now afraid of her computer-- at least until someone explains how not to find pornography to her-- and Mrs. Gilmore told her to watch television, Evie has decided to do her homework.

She is currently watching a rerun of Crime & Justice. It's not entirely clear to her how it works, but it's definitely fascinating.

JD's eyes widened.

"I didn't say that out loud, did I?"

Evie gave him an inquisitive look as she brushes off her skirt. "Say what aloud? 'That'?"

JDs eyes shifted from side to side.

"Uh, nothing."

Do not say banana hammock.

"You're pretty."

Damn. Not the right thing to say, either.

Evie blinked at him, then giggled, rising up on her toes in a bounce, then coming back down on her heels. "Thank you, that's a very kind thing to say. You're very charming, JD." She beamed at him. "All of the boys here are so nice." She glared over at Pete. "With a few exceptions."

JD blushed at the compliment, stammering something that sounded like it might have been a "thank you".

Then he looked at Pete, and waved a hand dismissively at him.

"Ah, that's just Pete. He doesn't mean anything by it."

"Well, perhaps not." Evie folded her arms reflexively over her chest, and huffed a bit. "But, really, *must* he stare so? I don't know how to respond. Aside from staring back, and I don't wish to! He's not Shirtless Alec, for heaven's sake!" She put a hand over her face. "Oh, lord..."

JD raised an eyebrow, just barely managing to not look at Evie's crossed arms.

"Oh really? And who is Shirtless Alec?"

His tone was curious, but playful and gossipy.

Evie blushed again. "Alec. I don't know his last name. But he looks exactly like Dean Winchester and he was wandering around without his shirt my first day here and oh my god he's beautiful and I'm afraid I flailed rather a lot," all said in one breath. She turned brighter red. "Dean's very nice. But it's rather, distracting? That I know what he looks like with his shirt off. In a way. So to speak." She put her hands over her face, then flailed again. "Oh God why can't I stop *talking*?"

"Aw, you're cute when you talk," he said reassuringly.

Too bad girls don't walk around without their shirts.

"So, do you have a crush on either of them?" JD asked conspiratorily.

"No!" Evie turned brighter red. "Perhaps. Maybe. But there's so *many* handsome, nice boys here. Dean-who-lives-next-door is very sweet, and, and... Dr. Jackson is lovely." More redness. Then she bounced, shaking her head. "But I shan't tell you more! No! Unless, unlesssss you have a crush on someone and tell me!" she added triumphantly. "Ha."

JD blushed himself, "Well, there is someone," he said sheepishly. "But she's dating someone else."

May he die a thousand deaths.

"Oh, no," Evie said, looking dismayed. "Oh, that's always rotten. Are you friends with her, at least? Because you know, things happen. Perhaps he'll meet someone else. Or, on this Island, perhaps, perhaps! He'll get turned into a walrus."

JD nods enthusiastically.

"Or maybe a camel. Walruses are kind of awesome."

"Well, I rather like camels. Except, they do spit. And they're not at all easy to manage. But then again, if he were a camel? He could still go to school here. Just room in the stables, instead." Evie started to look quite cheerful at the prospect. "She'd be sad, of course. If she's a nice girl. I assume she is. But she can't continue to date a camel. That's just not right."

JD was listening very intently.

"Exactly. So, how do we go about turning someone into a camel?"

Evie frowned. "I don't know. It might just happen. One girl turned into a cat? And Peter--" She pointed him out, "was a pony all this last weekend, evidently. Perhaps he could tell you?" She looked thoughtful, then brightened. "Or! I know there are magicians here. Surely they'd be happy to do it for... oh. Well. I can't think of a reason. But they *must* be able to!"

JD nodded, considering this.

"Maybe one of them could tell me how to do it." He grinned slyly at Evie, "Or us."

Evie grinned back at him, then bounced on her toes again with enthusiasm, carried away by the idea. "They could turn him into a camel just long enough for her to fall for you, then turn him back, and truly, if she can't love him when he's still a camel, then it's not true love, so!" She took a breath. "Perhaps. I mean. It would be a *little* Wrong. But, but, it's for a good cause!"
