Third Floor Common Room, Friday Afternoon

WIth no classes today, the twins lounged in the common room. Hikaru was eatting popcorn and watching the Z FIles while Kaoru sat to the side, making what must have sounded like strange barking as he looked over his Cross Species Communications vocabulary packet.

Pete grabbed a handful and proceeded to attempt to shove all of it in his mouth at once.

Hikaru was amused by this. "Don't choke."

"Mreupfahdaaoidghn," said Pete with his mouthful. Then he swallowed and spit out a kernel. "That has entirely too much butter on it, and not nearly enough salt."

He laughs at this, "The bag says "extra butter". Plus, I like it this way. There's salt in the cabinet over there." He gestures his head in the direction of the cabinet.

"That's alright, I think I've had my fill."

Hikaru shrugs and pops another in his mouth, glancing back at the TV right as some aliens blew-up.

"How do they get all those little people in that box to run around like that?"

"They video tape it and transmit it through wires. So they're not really in there." Hikaru was not usually one to answer dumb questions, but he assumed the guy was from a different time or something.

"ViDAYo tape?"

"yea..." Thinks about how to explain. "It's like... this machine that visually copies a scene so you can watch it on the TV."

"So this machine . . . shrinks actors down and puts 'em in the box?"

He just kinda stares at him. There was obviously no comprehension going on here. "Yea. That's what happens. Doesn't that make you want to be a TV star?"

"Not particularly, no."

"Then you can jump out and hide in people's pockets when you're not acting anymore."

"Not if I can't get out of that box!"

"If you got in, you can get out. I bet the door is on the back of the TV."

"Think you would notice all those tiny people coming out."

"They're good at keeping out of site."

"That just don't seem right, somehow. Like a prison."

"You should go free them then."

"I may just do that, some time."

"Why wait? Those aliens are hurting them." He keeps trying to provoke him to do something.

He laughs at that. "That is true."
