WIth no classes today, the twins lounged in the common room. Hikaru was eatting popcorn and watching the Z FIles while Kaoru sat to the side, making what must have sounded like strange barking as he looked over his Cross Species Communications vocabulary packet.

Alanna flicked her fingers at the nearby plant and it flew up, a bit of purple light underneath it. "Nope."

"Cool! You can make light?!" The twins are now interested.

Alanna rolled her eyes and made a purple ball of fire appear in her palm. "It's the first bit of magic and Gifted child learns. Some don't even need to learn it."

"What's the point of it?" Hikaru stared into the purple fire.

"It's a fire ball. If I throw it, something will get set on fire. It also gives out light. And it's pretty."

Alanna gave the twins a look. "Using my Gift uses up an internal power, if I use too much, I can pass out or even die. It's not a toy. But yes, I have."
