Roof - Sunday Evening

Marie was tired of being cooped up in her room. She still wasn't sure she was up to the insanity of a common room, so she decided to take advantage of the absolutely gorgeous night and head up to the roof.

It was one of those nights where Conner just felt like going up to the roof, not having done much of anything else today.

"Hey, you," he said when he spotted Marie. "This isn't your usual hangout."

"Pretty out," Schrodinger said from Marie's side.

He probably hadn't been there the last time Marie looked.

"I know," Marie said. "But it's a gorgeous night and I didn't feel like being in my room. And the common rooms are a little too social for me still."

Marie started and glanced over, drawing back a tiny bit.

"Yes it is."

"I get that." Conner sat down and got comfortable, then looked over at her. "Is me being here too social for you?"

Schrodinger glanced over. "My ears scare you?"

Marie shook her head. "Nah, it's okay. I trust you not to get too close."

"No, not at all," Marie said because she hadn't actually noticed them. "I just didn't hear you come out that's all."

"Even without a banana split on hand?" Conner teased. "How's things with Jamie, anyway?"

"Yeah," Schrodinger said. "I get that a lot." He smiled. "I guess I'm just naturally stealthy!"

Cue blushing.

"Good, I think," Marie said. "We went to the movies last night."

"Guess so," Marie agreed. "I'm Marie, by the way." She kept her hands firmly at her sides.

"I'm Schrodinger!" Schrodinger said, extending his hand to shake.

"Nice to meet you," Marie said. "I, um... I'd shake your hand, but I can't touch people."

It was the first time she'd said that aloud to a relative stranger and she felt a little awkward about it.

"Why not? Are you poison?" Schrodinger asked as he peered at her curiously.

Luckily Conner couldn't see the blushing in the darkness. "Good. I might have had to yell at him if he ditched you."

"Oh really?" Marie asked, somewhat amused by that idea.

Carrying two candles with him, Zuko made his way up to the roof to try medidating there. He had been hoping to have the place by himself and was about to head back down as he noticed people already there. When he heard Schrodinger's question however, he changed his mind.

"Hello, Marie."

"Zuko, hi," Marie looked very relieved to see him and took advantage of his arrival to stand up and move away from Schrodinger.

"Well, yeah," Conner said. "You've been through enough without anybody else hurting you."

"You're not going to give Jamie the 'if you hurt her...' speech, are you?" she asked.

Conner grinned. "Nah. I make lousy speeches. Besides, Willow and Bel pack more than enough of a punch in the threat department."

"Hiiii!" Schrodinger said, bouncing over. "Don't think I've met you, either."

"I do have some very powerful friends," Marie agreed with a smile.

"No," Zuko agreed, frowning at Schrodinger's appearance. "I'm Zuko. Are you a demon or a mutant?"
