Fourth Floor Common Room: Wednesday Late Morning

Joxer was sitting, fully decked out in his smooshed pasta strainers armor. He was flipping through the channels, until he ended up on some film channel showing Hired Sword, that old Japanese film.

It was subtitled. Joxer was struggling with keeping up.

Sakurazaki passed by the common room on her way out to town and had to stop.

"Oooh! Hired Sword! One of my favourites!" It was a rare thing indeed when Sakurazaki entered and plopped herself down in a common room so eagerly.

Subtitled, too! Eee!

"Oh, and hi, Joxer," she added with a grin.

"Hi Sakurazaki," Joxer said, not taking his eyes off the screen. Not trying to be rude, he just needed all the time he could get to keep up with the words.

"You've seen this before?"

"Mmhm," Sakurazaki nodded. "It's a classic. How come stuff like this is never playing when I'm in here looking for them? Occationally there's a late night Tamazilla movie, but..."

Joxer shrugged. "Just my luck?" he offered. "So, the guy who constantly has that thing in his mouth... he's the hero, right?"

"Uhhh," Sakurazaki isn't quite sure which character he means, so she waits until the hero is on the screen and simply says, "That guy, yes. Quite an interesting tactic he uses; not one I would have used, though." She frowns at the television criticly.

"Oh, okay," Joxer said, scratching his head. "He seems to be switching sides a lot."

Sakurazaki nodded. "Exactly. Effective, but very dishonourable."

"I kinda like the guy with the mallet," Joxer said, pointing. "Even if he's one of the... well, it seems like everyone's a bad guy."

"The mallet is pretty cool," Sakurazaki agreed with a nod. "And I think that's an accurate perception. Most often in life, there are no clear good guys or bad guys..."

"Hey," Joxer said. "I'm a good guy. Totally clear."

Sakurazaki cocked her head a bit as she gave him an intrigued look. Rare was the occation when she could turn down a chance to babble about something like this. "By which standards? I definately would see you as such, true, but that's because you and I probably have very similiar opinons on what is 'good' and what is 'bad.' However, someone else with a different idea of what classifies as 'good' and 'bad' would possibly see you or I as 'bad guys.' A passifist, for example, might look at us, as warriors, and denote us as bad because we chose to fight for what we believe is right instead of trying to find more peaceful methods of convincing."

Joxer sadly was not really equipped for this sort of discussion.

"I'm a hero," he said, simply.

"But to who?" she responded with a little push in her voice.

"Everyone who needs one," Joxer said.

"So, let's say that two people need a hero, then," it was almost as if Joxer's simplicty in the matter was inspiring her to drive the point more. "But, by being a hero to one, you're harming the other. How do you decide which to help over the other, even if both parties seem worthy of needing a hero?"

"Easy," Joxer said.

"Whoever pays more."

One of Sakurazaki's eyes slid shut as she looked at him hard, then she snorted a laugh, shaking her head.

"Spoken like a true 'hero,'" she said, rolling her eyes, but grinning.

"Hey, heroing is only good as long as you manage to keep fed," Joxer pointed out. "Can't be a hero if all you're worried about is where the next meal is coming from."

"I certainly can't argue with that point," she smiled. "It's nearly impossible to spy and sneak around when you've got a rumbling stomach..."

"Gives away your location, for one," Joxer laughed.

"Precisely," Sakurazaki nodded. Joxer really did have a pretty simple mind, didn't he? "And that tends to ruin everything."

Joxer nodded. And was now completely lost for the movie, sadly.

"So the key to a hero is being talented, mighty, and full."

Sakurazaki pondered his criteria, and came to a slow nod. "That sounds about right, yes."

"Having a good heart is probably needed to. Cause I think those requirements could be for being an evil warlord, too."

"But an evil wa---" Sakurazaki started to go back on her earlier tangent, but stopped when she looked at him, mid-word, mouth still slightly open. She snapped it shut and sighed. She wasn't going to go through that again.

"So," she nodded toward the screen. "What do you think of Japanese films?" Hopefully a much...simpler topic.

"I wish they spoke English," Joxer admitted. "I have trouble keeping up with the little words."

"I could translate for you," Sakurazaki offered, pausing a moment to consider just how whimsical she was feeling. She decided that, after yesterday, she needed to allow herself to just have some fun, so she added to her offer. "I can probably even do different voices for the different characters, if you want. And then you won't have to try to keep up with the subtitles."

"Thanks," Joxer said. "But I think that might get a little confusing."

Sakurazaki smiled softly, feeling a little disappointed. "Thought I'd offer. But I think maybe I'll just leave you to it, then. I should swing by Hitsuzen, have to pick up some things from All and Sundries get my mun to work." She got up from the couch. "I hope you enjoy the rest of the movie, and that my interuption didn't take you from it too much."

Joxer shook his head. "Thanks for talking with me. Good luck with all that stuff," he said. He waved, too.

Billy waved his glass of grapefruit juice at the girl he didn't think he knew yet.

Sakurazaki gave the boy-with-the-eyepatch-that-wasn't-Pip a nod. "Hello."

Before his classes started, Billy shuffled into the common room, needing more hydration, but something more than the water he could get in his room.

"Mornin'" he greeted.

"Hey Billy," Joxer said.

"We should spar sometime." he said, rooting around in the refrigerator, and finding som grapefruit juice.

"When're you free?" Joxer asked.

"Hmm, tomorrow after classes?"

"You're on," Joxer said. "Hope you're ready for a mighty thrashing."

"Always." Billy grinned.

"Well, I'm ready too," Joxer said. "I'll see you there."

"Excellent." Billy said. "Then maybe later you can show me some anchient Greek sword moves."

"That I can do," Joxer said. "I know more than a few moves like that."

"Excellent." Billy said. It'd be good to test himself against an acutal opponent again.

Joxer merely sat with a smug smile.
