Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday Afternoon

Bel had learned about football last fall. Now he was pleased it was football season once again. So he'd taken over the fifth floor common room and was camped out with snacks and drinks to watch the games that afternoon. Right now it was the New England Patriots versus the New York Jets.

He picked the Patriots to root for. No reason.

"Or it's springloaded, like those little plastic boxing robots."

Luke blinked. "That's an image that'll haunt me for a while."

"Eep, sorry," Cally said. "Was just trying to make a joke."

Luke smiled. "No lasting harm done," he promised.

"Good. I made a promise to not break any of the new people."

"There's promises about that?"

"Well, it's kinda weird here, you know? And I didn't want to be part of people getting all flustered and confused and stuff."

"I caused most of my own fluster and confusion," Luke admitted. He paused. "Any reason why Parker would tell me not to jump off the roof? Other than the obvious stupidity involved?"

"Ummm... nope," Cally said. "Just good advice in general, really."

Luke smiled, reassured. "Just wanted to make sure I didn't make people think I looked stupid enough to, you know, jump off the roof."

Luke's smile broadened. "Thanks."

"So other than the gushing over Ben Kenobi, you getting settled okay? Getting used to the ins and outs of Fandom?"

Luke nodded. "Saw the gremlins and everything," he said.

"Didn't get bit, didja? Gremlin bites frakking suck," Cally said.

Luke shook his head. "They were putting on a play," he said. "Have you gotten bitten?"

"Two times," Cally said. "Once right on the nose."

"Ow," Luke said sympathetically. "What happened?"

"I ended up thinking people were secretly Cylons?" Cally said. "Which was extra crazy, because Cylons don't look like people."

"They're evil robots," Cally said.

"Droids can be evil?" This was a revelation. "Useful, yes, annoying, often, but evil?"
