Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday Afternoon

Bel had learned about football last fall. Now he was pleased it was football season once again. So he'd taken over the fifth floor common room and was camped out with snacks and drinks to watch the games that afternoon. Right now it was the New England Patriots versus the New York Jets.

He picked the Patriots to root for. No reason.

"Good for you!" Jamie said flopping down next her on the couch. "Have you done anything else social today?"

"Nope, just came down here a little while after you left," Marie said. "What about you?"

"Posters," Jamie replied. "Lots of posters. I now recommend you start spreading your platform out for the electorate. Press the flesh... so to speak."

"My platform?" Marie asked.

"What? You can't just expect to get elected because you look hot on a poster," Jamie replied. "Me? I'm running on the platform of free candy."

Yeah, Marie was blushing again. "Free candy, huh? Maybe I should bake muffins or something."

"Muffins are good," Jamie replied. "Or you can wear your cheerleader outfit and offer free cheers and bounce around. I'd vote for that."

Marie wondered if it was possible to spontaneously combust from blushing.

"I think muffins would be safer."

"Not the kind of bounce I'm looking for," Jamie said nudging Marie in the side with his elbow.

Marie sighed. "I thought you liked me," she said.

"I do like you!" Jamie exclaimed. "What about that says I don't like you?"

"You're trying to embarrass me to death!"

"It's fun," Jamie said softly. "I love just seeing the way you react when I talk to you."

Marie shook her head, but she was smiling. "No one has ever made me blush as much as you do."

"Do you want me to stop?" Jamie asked seriously.

"Do you think you actually could?" Marie asked. "You started doing that when we first met. Before we were even..." she trailed off, not exactly sure how to define their relationship.

"Um... dating?"

Jamie gave her a small smile. "I'd like to think we're more than just dating, don't you?"

"Really?" Marie asked. "I wasn't sure. We never talked about it."

"Does the fact that I'm still here with you after everything we've been through give you an idea?" Jamie asked. "I sang Bon Jovi with a Mariachi band. Doesn't that give you an idea of what I'd do for you?"
