The Gym - Monday Late Morning Through Early Afternoon

Peter decided that a week was more than long enough to keep out of the gym.  His only concession was to avoid the salle and the temptation to use a real sword.  Instead he found himself spending his free time before Interstellar Relations working through forms with a practice blade.  And ignoring the fact that the work out did, actually, hurt.

Conner decided to take advantage of his day off to hit the gym for some long-overdue staff practice. "Hey, Peter," he said as he tested the staves for weight and balance, trying to pick out just the right one. You got picky about that sort of thing after a while when you got used to working with unique arms, unfortunately.

"Hey Conner," Peter replied when he finished a form. He grinned at Conner's pickiness. "Sometimes I think drunk people made half the practice weapons we have here."

"Or drunk monkeys, maybe," Conner complained, rejecting yet another staff. "No offense to Pippi's monkey, of course. Or anybody here who's ever turned into one."

"I don't know. I think a pirate's monkey would be the most likely to be drunk," Peter replied. "Can't imagine he'd take it as an insult."

Jamie came into the gym to do his usual work out when he spied Peter doing some bladework.

"Nice form," he said with a nod. "Don't suppose you'd like a sparring partner?"

"Thanks." Peter nodded back. He paused for a second. "I didn't know you did swordwork. I'd love one, but I warn you, I've not trained for a week."

"A dupe I sent away over the summer spent six months training to be a swordsman," Jamie said picking up a practice blade and making a few practice swipes with it. "I haven't trained for about three weeks so the warning goes both ways."

Peter nodded. "Interesting. Any particular style?" He stretched slightly, trying to get rid of the stiffness in his chest.

Tyler came in and waved before setting into a run on the treadmill.

"Hey."

"Hey Tyler," Peter replied, nodding back. "How goes it?"

"Pretty much the usual," Tyler said, pausing to stretch. "I was kind of out of it most of this weekend. Anything exciting happen?"

"Neither famine nor invasion as far as I could tell," Peter said. "Unless it was a very quiet invasion, and we already had one of those."

"Hey Tyler," Jamie said with a wave. "How goes it?"

"I'm plotting the Stickbug takeover of Student Council with English," Tyler said. "How're you?"

"Got my campaign going yesterday," Jamie replied thoughtfully. "Are you suggesting a party platform?"

Isabel came in and started to stretch out on the mats.

"Afternoon, Isabel," Peter said with a smile. "How do you do?"

"Hi Peter," Isabel smiled as she tried to touch her toes. "I'm doing well. I'm trying to get back into working out regularly. How about you?"

"Same here," he replied. "I took last week off, but I think I might go raving mad if I don't start training again. Out of boredom if nothing else."

Alec wandered down to the gym, figuring he hadn't been in a while, and though he didn't need to work out so much to keep fit, it still felt good to get himself really moving for a bit. Stretches first, then the weight machine, perhaps.

Jack was on his way back to his room after leaving Lana at the bookstore, but he decided to detour past the gym. Since he and Sam were likely to be spending a lot of time in it, and he'd been there a grand total of once that he could remember, he figured it was worth checking out.

When he saw Alec, he couldn't help both a long and appreciative look, and a mild glare.

Alec shot Jack a grin as he straightened, wondering at the glare but in good enough of a mood to ignore the meaning of it.

Jack nodded a greeting, but didn't return the grin. "Hey. Having fun?"

Tyler nodded to Alec. "Hey. Haven't seen you down here often."

"Hey," Alec said in reply, somewhat subdued after his conversation with Jack. "Yeah, I've been doing running, mostly. Thought I should get back into this though."
