2nd floor common room, afternoon

Jake was curled up in the couch with a huge cup of coffee and a sketchpad. Yesterday she'd been drawing pirates, and today she'd sketched a scene from Really Scary Stories, and was currently doing Sugar Kane faces while singing along to the singer, who was apparently getting marathoned on Music Video Channel. "Happy to be happy/Happy from my nose to my toes/--"

Nadia was feeling restless and her mun was having an absurdly slow day at work so she was wandering around. And arguing with people, it seemed.

"Hey."

"Hey." Jake waved vaguely. "Sit down, have some coffee, watch an endless run of Sugar Kane vids."

"Okay, thanks, and what Kane vids?" Nadia happily grabbed a cup of coffee and had a seat. "And have we met? I'm Nadia."

"We have. I died for you," Jake said solemnly, before grinning. "Sugar is like Britney but British and from Marvelverse. Which you can probably tell by now."

Nadia nodded slowly. "Wait, you . . . what?" She looked at Jake a bit longer. ". . . You mean at Empire? The shoot-out? Jake, right?"

"Yeah, that's me. I think I'm going to change back during the weekend. Can spend all of next week meeting people again then." Jake looked amused. "Or possibly claim I'm a newbie."

Dawn heard the music as she was on the way back to her room after Hunting. She poked her head into the common room and spotted Jake. "Hi. What're you sketching?"

"Happy to be happy--" Jake broke off mid song and gave Dawn a wide-eyed stare. "I'm, uh. Sugar Kane. 'Cause she's on tv." She pointed with her pencil.

"Is she any good?" Dawn asked, plopping down on one of the couches. "Also, I'm Dawn."

Jake grinned. "Not really, but she's easy to draw. I'm Jake. I don't usually sing along to mindless pop songs, I swear."

"Why not? It's fun, 'tho I dance around more than I sing," she grinned back.

Billy heard Euro-Pop and stuck his head into the common room. "Who's that?"

"Sugar Kane," Jake said distractedly. "There's a marathon."

"Sugar, Kane. Well I guess she had to set herself apart somehow."

Jake looked up and frowned at the tv. "I think it might be her real name, in which case you can't really blame her for turning into a pop princess."

"Really? Okay yeah, name like that what else are you gonna do?"

Shawn is quite impressed that he's finally found people in his own floor's common room. He wanders in and flops onto the nearest sofa. "Hi people."

"So, what are we watching here exactly?" Shawn asked, peering at the enthusiastic singing and dancing going on onscreen.

"Sugar Kane marathon. I was watching Really Scary Stories and couldn't be arsed to change the channel," Jake explained.

Shawn nodded, "Seems as good a reason as any to watch a program to me. Uh, I'm Shawn, by the way."

"Eh, pretty good," Shawn said. "Just had my first class of the week. It's been lazy and awesome. Yourself?"
